I love the beach early in the season here when it looks like that.

Hardly any people and the water is usually crystal clear.

From the pics it looks like the Nor-Easter churned things up on the bottom a bit.

Great pics Mike.

Yes John, much sand was missing but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. When I was at the office getting my Empire pass, I heard them say the area reserved for 4x4 fishing was still under water

im still waiting for them to let us back ON the beach - stu daddy gots the permits....hoping more of you will get a 4x4 permit as well

I think today was the last day to get a permit for a few months. I thought about it but I dont fish and the list of stuff you need to have with you is crazy. Porta potty !!!

a fishing permit is what i have. for the avy i need to mod a 12v plug in the front and rear to power my  air compressor when it comes time to air up.

can't drive on beaches in this country no more.................Mo had her Av parked on the beach on top of some WEEDS and they wanted to write her a ticket for destroying native wild grasses or some schitt.........

its been my experience; if you tape the permit on the windsheild- passenger side, on the bottom, and the rear of the avy facing the water- the cops won't bother you. they don't want to get out of there truck. if they do get out then they want to see the fishing pole and tacle box- i have an el cheapo. i do have a porta potty but i havent used it. and i have off road gear like pull straps, shovel, 2x4, etc.

i usually go to gilgo, 2nd entrance heading eastbound. i go all the way to the shore next to a large mountain of sand.

also i notice, it seams like the same cops are patrolling [cushy job]. if they see you helping others if they get stuck- they remember your face and your vehicle.

also i noticed a lot of old timers fishing and kids in the water are a bad mix . these old timers will complain. i have seen the cops get out, lokking for and warning the parents to get the kids out. then will check people and permits as they head back to their truck.

on my avy, i just did my drls today. i am going to take a ride at night with my wife after i install dual battery, better on board air [i dont want to hang out too long airing my tires back up] and high powered lights. an avy tent would be nice for over night stays at the beach  >:D

I do have a photography permit, which is the same as the fishing permit, except I dont need to have the fishing gear with me. I still have to have all the other stuff for 4x4'ing. One thing of note - my porta potty is a camping type one - plastic seat, aluminum legs, and a plastic bag that hangs under the seat. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive.

what I would like is the air compressor in the car, rather than relying on fill stations. THere are so many good spots on the island to go that DO NOT have the pumps like democrat has.

anyway....nice to see some folks got the permit. would be cool to do a beach hang

Best,
Stu

I might be heading to RM for a day at the beach this coming Thursday
