If you hate :8: paint chips on the front of your vehicle as much as I do then here is a product to keep your AV looking new for years  , Scotchcal Paint Protection Film from 3M. You may have seen this product reviewed on Motor Week as that?s how I found out about it.

I had this installed on my AV a few months ago and think its one of the best car care ideas in years. It is an invisible bra that is guaranteed not to yellow, fade, rust, crack, peel or harm painted surfaces for 5 years. Scotchcal can with stand a 1 inch rock traveling at 120 MPH. And squashed bugs wipe right off with a little glass cleaner. It is completely invisible  except for the seam line that you have to be within a few feet to see.

There are kits available for the AV that will cover the front clip, head lamps, side mirrors and the first 8 inches of the hood. You can mix and match the pieces you want or get the whole kits like I did. It is not cheep as it cost me about $400.00 for the complete kits installed. That?s what I paid to get the hood repainted on my wife?s Maxima to get all the chips out of it and it?s only a year old.

This is not a do it your self product. Dent Magic did mine and I?m sure there are other companies out there handling this product. You can see it ( I mean not see it) on my AV at the link below:

This is the XPEL stuff talked about in another thread.....

Good stuff.....Treat it like paint and it will look good for a long time.

I moved this thread to the mod section where it is more appropriate.

Just had My Av 3M "Scotchcal"ed. Love the product as I just drove from Colorado Springs to Ft Rucker, Al. Hailed on me North of Nashville and took a coupla good tags on the front end. The 3M held up remarkably. No dings at all.

I had the first 12" of the hood, the fender fronts, the painted surfaces on the grill, and themirror backs for $175 plus tax. Team Chevy in Co Springs had it done in their shop while I was having warranty work done.

I talked with 2 dealers and they didn't know anything about Scothcal. ?$175.00, that's a great price, did they do all the head lamp and fog lights for that? ?That added another $150 to my install and I almost didn't get them done. ?But thought the cost of one busted light cover changed my mind.
