I just came across a Chevy truck marketing event -- in the parking lot of Outdoor World in Dallas. Among other things, they had a cladding-less AV (did not care for it, personally), and a concept called a Base Camp edition.
Looked like a dedicated camper vehicle... I did not have my camera with me, but I will try to remember what details I can;
- reallly cool yellow color, not the new AV color, more like a pearl (lighter) yellow-gold, along with the new darker cladding. Very nice, I thought.
- the cladding said "Base Camp" under Avalanche
- what looked like an extended version of the tent, with an attachment at the rear grab handles for poles to make the tent significantly larger (longer)
- the side walls of the bed were cut out, with open storage compartments for camping gear, held back with some cargo nets
- large Bose speaker grills in the bed area, behind the midgate
- chrome diamond plating on the rear steps and bumper (wonder here they got THAT idea? CAFCNA!)
- a hinged section of the diamond plating that covered the inside of the tailgate. With the gate down, you could lift the cover to reveal a propane stove and a sink built in to the tailgate!
- a hitch mounted propane tank
OK, now who is going to try this with their tailgate?
