Its time to change 'em...  So many chooses to pick from..  Not sure where to start..
02 Z66 with 110K on it..  Not lowering it...
Will be changing the brakes as well..  Its time to sink a little more $$ in the av...

I know you all have an opinion on which to get and which to avoid..

Never had an Av, but I've always had good luck with KYB Gas shocks.  Had 'em in three different cars.  Marked improvement from stock.  Better ride, less nodedive when braking, less body roll in turns.
Gonna put a set on the Monte when the time comes, which will be soon...

With the Z-66 do you have the load leveling shocks?

I know everyone is hyped up on the Monroe shocks, but I had a set for a while and was not really all that happy with them.  They appeared to be shorter than the stock shocks and liked to squeek when going over speedbumps.  Again, that's my experience with them and I won't be looking to get them again (even if I hadn't outgrown them).

There only one type or several models

For the KYB's, I'd go with the MonoMax, they're made for SUV's.

Linky Thingy

2002-2006 Avalanche 2WD 1500 P/N 565067 Front, 565103 Rear.

I always used Gas-Adjust in my cars. ?Looking at those or the AG-2 for the Monte. ? ?

i have the monroe reflexes, i liked it the first couple of months then its downhill from then... my truck being lowered affected the situation too so for stock, i like the ones gm used... they are comfy to begin with, why change it?

Hugz.....I just bought front and rear Monroe Reflex shox about 2 months ago. They have about 1500 miles on them. When I get my 2/4 drop kit from Dune I'm going to change out my shox with Belltech for a stiffer ride.

If you decide you want the Monroe Reflex shox and want to save some $$ just let me know. I'll give you all 4 for $100.

As AVY14 said the Monroe Reflex's are great for a stock height but if your lowering your av 2/4 or lower you should go with another shox. I've been very pleased as have many other members with the ride at stock height but it's time to go down.

the monroe's are ok,but two things to keep in mind,if you have a leaking shock they only warranty the leaking one so you end up with one old shock and one new!! monroe is so confident in their shocks they only warranty two models out of their line-up for life, the others are 90 days,in order to file a warranty claim you have to provide proof of purchase AND proof of vehicle ownership (copy of registration or insurance documentation)? no i'm not kidding ,i get to process a lot of em'.? also every shock KYB makes is MONOTUBE and warrantied for life,no questions asked

Dune should have shipped out the kit either yesterday or today!

But.... if you decide you want to go with another brand or need them sooner then by all means go ahead......I understand completely.

monroe reflex shocks are vehicle specific, and as such are designed to be mounted at a certain length, the valving is designed to stiffen at the outer limits both compressed and extended , so when you alter the ride height you change the "mounted length" and move it out of it's "sweet spot",that why the ride goes to hell when you lower the truck

KYN monomax are velocity sensitive, they detect speed of movement and alter the valving according to how fast the piston is moving up or down, mounted length does'nt matter, only how fast the suspension is compressing or extending. they also have internal bumpstops so if you crank the torsion bars they don't pull apart like the factory bilsteins, the valving is also biased on rebound not compression=  smooth ride!!  just my .02 cents

what i meant was... why change the shock brand... if we all fell inlove with the avalanche's ride quality when it was stock... why cant you just put stock shocks again? (except for lowered and raised av's)... im not really sure about the price for oem shocks but if its the same price, might as well go with it because that was the ride that we used to love
