This is a strange one I know but does anyone know if there are drains for water in the side compartments. Could I fill them with ice and not worry about any damage water would do to the inside of the truck? Thanks

I am amazed at your quick responses and overall helpfulness to all CAFCNA members no matter what their questions are. ?You are a credit to this site, without a doubt. ?We love you for everything that you do!!

This is one fine example of why, when we were deciding on candidates for the Music City Mayhem Avalanche Spirit Award, you were at the top of the list.

Thanks Holly!!

:D Sweet! For a reason that shall remain undisclosed I must fill heavy duty garbage bags with water and then be able to drain them by bursting them once I am done inside my side compartments. Strange, I know but there is a good reason.

if you decide to not go the garbage bag route you can stuff a sponge in the drain hole which will keep the water in there longer and your beverages cooler

Has anyone modded thier compartments to actually add some insulation to it? Maybe by removing and wrapping the outside of the compartments with something, or maybe using something that can be sprayed onto the outside of the compartments? I'm not sure how easy it would be to remove the compartment - is this feasable?

There was a thread about adding insulation, not sure if it ever happened.  To remove the compartment is not that easy, but it can be done, plus there is not much room around it to add any insulation.

There is a thread. But compartments were too close to the bed body walls. You could line three sides. Except for that one area. I had consider using the blue sleeping pad foam, about 1/2" thick. But it was a very tight fit. Just not 1/2" or more.

I wouldn't use the spray insulation. It would make it very impossible to remove the compartments later. Very strong glue.

Yes..I have used them when I went fishing and forgot a cooler...through fish and bunch of ice in there!! good to go....I just washed it out with some bleach water when I got home

I actually have my Divers side dedicated for just being an Ice chest. It works great. The water drains out as you drive. When all is said and done all you have to do is add more ice. No mess to clean. The person who designed these compartments did a wonderful job.

I used mine that way once. I had towed my Impala SS to St. Louis for a national meet and in the parking lot the water was dripping down and spashing on another Impala owner that just detailed his car next to me :beating: I had to move my truck :D

definately lots of uses for them....

I've had ice in mine... great for one day trips or overnighters...
melts pretty fast though if it's warm out
