Hey Guys, Just got my 04 av after letting my 03 go. I want to add the snakeyes or a similar system to the raer. I have a few questions:
1. Are there any other units on the market that anyone has used or would reccomend.
2. How easy is the install, I am a DIY with the ability to follow instructions and have an overall mechanical ability.
3. Does the screen turn on only in reverse, how does that work?
4. how durable is the camera, any guess on life expectancy, I plan to go off-road on occasion and question its durability.
5.Does anyone know the warranty?

I realize I could e-mail snakeyes with the questions, but I feel I will get more unbiased answers her.
Thanks for the help!

Let's see if I can help a little. I have had my Snake Eyes since April with no problems.

1. There are several systems out there on the market. Some are acoustic (sound warning like sonar) others are visual like Snake Eyes. Do a search for back up systems and you will see some variants of systems designed by club members.

2. The Snake Eyes system is pretty easy to install and the guys at Snake Eyes give great instructions with pictures etc. The amount of time it takes is totally dependant on how professional you want the install to look. Many people have chosen different locations when running the wires inside the cab and going to the visor.

3. It's my understanding that the system from Snake Eyes only comes on in reverse and this is due to splicing into the trailer hitch wiring. Many have chosen a different power source(ie hard wire to battery) and installed a switch which will let you use it anytime you want. Many threads on this topic.

4. The camera is pretty sturdy. The bulk of the support for the camera comes from the lense resting in the hole you drill when installing. It is also mounted in back with heavy duty velcro. I took this and reinforced it in other ways just to be safe and also to protect if from the weather. Other than some really bad roads, I haven't been off road...yet, but it has held nicely.

The guys at Snake Eyes are awesome in service and support and I know the design and options have improved since I ordered. It's a great system in my opinion. Every time I go to a dealer or GTG, people ooooo and ahhhhhhh over it. ;D

Hope that helps. Your best bet would be to send your post in a PM to club member 7of7. He is part owner of Snake Eyes.

Good Luck.

One of the owners of the SnakeEyes company installed a unit at the Central Indiana Modding GTG. It was awsome and did not take him long at all!

Yes, I got mine from 7 of 7, (Tony), wired it through the e-brake and for both reverse and on via switch, the monitor (5. allows for 2 video feeds, also I mounted the camera above the hitch and below the bumper. Love it.
