This is next on the calendar as a So Cal Avalanche Event...

There are several members who have already expressed an interest in attending this event. In case you haven't heard about it yet...Here is some information about it...

Chevy Truck Familyfest 2003
Location: ?Snow Summit - Big Bear, CA.
Skiers-on-Lift_B.jpg

CAFCNA has the event listed as March 2, 2003.
Chevrolet & Snow Summit have both March 1 & 2 listed as the event days.

This from CAFCNA.com...
"This is an event being held by Chevrolet and is not affiliated with the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club of North America. However - they are a blast to attend. You'll be able to get lots of freebies including stuff with the Avalanche logo on it. Here is why Chevrolet has to say:"

"Chevy Truck Familyfest is a unique and exciting series of two to three day promotional events scheduled at eleven premier ski resorts across the country. Simply put, these events are a whole lot of fun for the entire family. You'll have the chance to check out the Chevy Avalanche, TrailBlazer and Suburban."

"You'll also have the opportunity to participate in entertaining activities like the Transformer Challenge, all-mountain Twin/Win, and other activities where you might have a chance to win great prizes."

Sounds like fun to me! Give a holler if you are interested in attending this event.

UPDATE: 02/25/03
So Cal Chapter Event Canceled.
Due to lack of interest and little feedback... The March 1 & 2 cruise to Chevy Trucks Familyfest at Snow Summit in Big Bear, Ca. is canceled.

I don't want to discourage anyone from attending on their own, but there will not be any So Cal AV activities at this event. But, if you are going.... Have fun!

Cindy,

Get your club honkin' and go to this event. We ( the NJ/NY/PA/CT ) did one of the first ones they had and it was a blast.............. ;D There's something for the whole family to do and it's a nice outing.
( and if you ask nicely, we'll tell you how to get a match for the North Face Chevy Truck backpacks >:D )

I am in this time. As long as my tranny does not die again and my wife does not roll and total the new car. The new car is a Mercedes C230 Kompressor Coupe. Sweet car. Only $26,132 for a new 03 model. Good second car and you can put it in the back of an AV and use it as a dingy. :D

It's on the Seattle Club Group calendar to go to the March event at Mission Ridge. These events are a lot of fun as a GTG with members - if you get their early enough lots of great freebies with the Avalanche logo.

My contact "TN" at GM is the man behind the plan.

My advice to California members - GO!

Hey Guys,
There's another event like this for the Nor-Cal folks. It's gonna be held at Northstar on the north side of Tahoe.

http://www.northstarattahoe.com/

Dates: 15th-17th Feb

ps. anyone know where i can get my hands on some northface bags to replace my stolen ones???

I'm planning on attending!!
Brining the wife the dogs and maybe a friend or 2, all up in the AV.

My wife and I will probably spend the night. Do not know where yet, but we probably need to make reservations soon.

My girls and I are in for this one also....

Is anyone planning on spending the night up there?

We're looking into spending the night also. It's such a nice place and I believe the event is both days anyway.

Well... So far, it looks like these members are planning to attend the Chevy Truck Familyfest at Snow Summit in Big Bear, Ca. I believe most are attending on Saturday, March 1, 2003. Some are overnighting up there...
Here is a link to the "official" Familyfest site if you would like a little more information about the event and it's sponsors.

:) avking - Saturday
:) MTBJoe -Saturday?
:) schubie -Sunday
:) CA HIKR -Saturday
:) CA-AV -Saturday
:) SoCalCindy & Wind4Power -Saturday

I am told we will have to arrive very early in the morning at Snow Summit in order to park in the main parking lot. (like by 7:30 a.m.) If we arrive later... we might have to park in a secondary lot and take a shuttle to the resort.
I'm not sure if everyone is going to be willing to meet that early in the morning in order for us all to cruise "up the hill" together. Also, there might be a couple members who plan to attend on Sunday. This is turning out to be a tough one to coordinate!

I'm gonna need more feedback if we are going to attend this event as group.

Hi Cindy, I have to back out of this one. :6:

My wife has other plans for me and the AV...I get to load it up with more girl scout cookies that you can imagine and bring them back to the house for distribution to the girls in the troop.

Wood, dirt, deer or elk...ok. But cookies??? oh boy...

Just emailed the group again tonight to try to get some final feedback on who is attending and which day...
So I can pick and publish a meet location and time for those that would like to cruise up to Big Bear together....

Hey guys - lets try and get a big showing here. When the Northeast folks went out to Camelback in PA there was 38 of them. So many club members showed up that I got a call from General Motors about it! ;D ;D ;D

Those are the kind of calls I LOVE to get. ;D

This sounds like it will be a lot of fun. We are going to have to set some vacation days aside to make it next year. (This year we will be using our Av to move ;D )

Hi S. CA Av club:

Sounds like a lot of fun, however since I have
pneumonia at the moment,

me and Mrs. Supermobile

won't be goin' up the hill;

pain in chest don't give no thrill,

think I catch the next big deal;

Think of me and have some fun

I'll see you at the next club one!

:C:

Larry

It only hurts when I breathe. :cautious:
