At least a lot of  +K's  for a great job! WoW!
Thanks for the hard work Cindy!

Great job on the website Cindy! Now have you thought of providing wireless Internet access to the attendees? We did this at the Central Indiana Modding GTG and it was a BIG HIT! It allows members to upload pictures to the club site right as they are taken. We tried to get a live web cam going but were short on time (did not think of it until the last minute) so it was not done. That would be cool! A live feed to the club site of what is going on at the MEGA MEET! Just think about it????..

Ya that would be cool.

I took a run buy there with my laptop, and was only able to pick up a VERY weak signal (too weak to be usable) right at the edge of the park. It sould be done, but it would be pretty expensive. We'd have to work with one of the cell phone companies to set up a temprary WAP near there.

If I had a feed, I could bring on of my 2300MHz reflectors. But it would be easier to just get a temporary mast with a directional antenna and point it.

Everyone huddle around the hub! >:D

Nodes: you either Av it or you don't! (Where did I see that before?)

Jim, would that weak signal work @ 56K? >:D

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hmmm, that could be used for the Meet!

"SoCal MegaMeet: For those who Av it!"

I Av it.. do you? ;D
A little  to Cindy. Nice job!

That's a great idea! We need the best people on this one to make it happen. ( Lockout, Sperry, Tecksavy).
We have a very good friend that has quite a bit of pull with Hearst /Argyle Broadcasting. (on a national level) If any of you Tekkies think this kind of influence could be useful even just from a public exposure stand point let me know. All that stuff is Greek to me so I may just be way out in left field on this one. ???

Hmmm, I may be able to drop a hint to a friend that works for NBC...
Never know...

I wasn't pulling an IP Address. The signal was barely registering, so I don't know if they just don't have DHCP going, or if it was just too week for me to get a good connection.

UCI is pretty close (about 1 mile), but wireless connections don't travel very far (max about 500 yards).

I've never heard of these guys... Do they have a presence in So Cal?

I would be very suprised if they don't. We're talking HEARST as in Hearst Castle/ media gurus. Local broadcast names are probably displayed on the T.V. with Hearst/Argyle in the small print at the end of the credits of say a news broadcast.

Oh... I wasn't thinking that... :E: Sorry I was thinking more in geek terms. I'm sure they do have a presence here, but now I need to understand how the media could help us... or in more terms what it would be that the media would be interested in.... ???

Well that kinda answers my question. I'm no technical whiz. I just know they send stuff through the air..... We want to send stuff through the air.... ( please refer to the " out in left field " refrence from earlier post :2:)
