Well after a long wait, my stainless steel bug shield is finally installed. Here is one pic. Check out the other pics on my webshots site.

Let me know what you think.

I know I like it.

Looks real good (y)

Hey that looks really nice, however I can agree with what ASAGOT stated as well.

By the way, I love your hitch mounted chair.

I hate to say but I think it might be a little much for me. The rest of the truck is beautiful but I think it breaks up the lines and flow of the truck. To each his own, the only opinion that matters is the person who drives it.

dday

Very sharp looking bug shield! ;D
I've gotta get one! Where'd you get it?
Need that, Billet grille, and Chrome Tow hooks! >:D

Not my bag of tea, but to each his own, as long as you like it.

Very nice. I like the look on YOUR Av... Your Av is dark enough to have a nice contrast. My Av is LPM, so I don't think it would look very good. If anyone out there with a LPM Av has a stainless bug guard, please post pics!

Details please- I have a black 03 with billet grill, billet bow tie, chrome grille guard- chrome running bars, and this will complete the ensemble. Need weight, cost, ordering site, and impact from highway driving for vibration and noise.

James 21- thanks- I just got off work so will check tomorrow when back at computer. Much obliged. Weird time to receive a response from you - I thought I was the only one awake at this hour.

I see that some of you don't like the look, but I wanted something different. That is the reason that I got the AV in the first place.

I got it from Premier Motoring Accessories They had the best price at the time. I had some issues with Lund, but PMA came through for me with awesome customer service. If I e-mailed something to them, they were always back to me the same day.

Have a good time browsing PMA's site. They have a lot of cool stuff. I wish I had more $$$

dehaluzak- before I lay out the green for the ss bug shield I would like your input about [1] noise experienced, [2] mirror shake/rattle, [3] vibration, [4] cleaning off the bugs- like impossible on plastic ones and [5] ease of installation. I figure if I do not like the SS appearance I can always paint or annodize, but the appearance is what I am targeting coupled with ease of scrub down. I know I have to use wax to get the bugs off my chrome grille guard, billet grille and bowtie so it should work the same with SS bug shield. The locusts here get so thick they stop traffic on the interstates because you cannot get them off the windshield and I do not want them forever embedded on my hood. I await your tales please. Thanks.

Here are the best answers that I can give.
[1] no noise until 75mph, then the windshield rubber starts to vibrate a little. Not too annoying, yet. [2] no mirror shake/rattle [3] no vibration noticed [4] no bugs yet. It is still too early here in Wisconsin [5] installation was a breeze. Included were 5 plastic inserts to be placed in the 5 square holes in the underside of the hood. Holes in bug shield matched up perfectly and shield mounted securely with screws (also included)
I did have to tweak the shield a little to make it look "right" to me. It looked a little higher on one side than the other. That is the beauty of metal. It is formable. Plastic is not. *use the included self-adhesive rubber bumpers and test close the hood before slamming it shut. (scraped my paint a little) The rubber bumpers keep a safe gap between the shield and the paint.

I just got mine today and put it on at lunch and here are my observations:
1) no noise whatsoever even up to 80 mph
2) minor left side mirror vibration but I think I can tweek the shield to fix it, none in the right hand side.
3) no vibration
4) the best way to clean ss is to use a good car wash and the finest steel wool or scotch brite pad that you can get.
5) installation took 5 minutes

I got mine yesterday and it took longer to remove the old plastic bug shield than it did to install the ss one. looks awsome. (y)

>:D
I was about to take my old one off and paint it white this weekend

looks good DAVE....I wonder what it would look like on LPM............

It is a different look. Not for me, but that's the idea of mods. Looks real good on the two pictures. Dave the white would have look great as well. Had a Lund painted white on my last

dhaluzak, see you are from Wisconsin. Do you know of a company called Dairyland in your area?

Looks great Dave (y)!
It looks just the same as mine looked 2 months ago, but now I have to figure out how to get the bugs off of the shield w/o damaging it. Hopefully you don't have as many bugs as I do here in NY.
