Steering Doesn't Let Go

I have had my new 2002 Avalanche just a month. ?I only have 700 miles on it. ?I noticed last night for the first time after driving it off and on all day long that when trying to make a left or right turn from center the stearing wheel would not let go for about a second. ?This was appearing to get worse as the eveing driving went on. ?I am going to head out again this morning and see what it does now. ?Has anyone experienced this? ?Any ideas?

Not with mine [still under 1000 miles though] I think you better get it checked quick. ?You may have something coming loose...

What do you mean? It would not turn left or right or.....it would not come back to center after the turn?

Maybe a steering box problem?....

Well, after 3 trips to Chevrolet of Bellevue over the course of a week, I finally got it fixed. They replaced the already brand new steering box twice (3 new ones total). They keep saying that their computers and manuals all said the symtoms pointed to a steering box problem. They gave me the truck back saying everything was fine. It wasn't. I didn't even get out of their driveway and it was worse then it was prior to bringing it in. No one could possibly have test driven it as they said they did. Finally they realized that it was not the steering box at all, just a bolt on the steering mechanism that had backed its way out and was hitting a brace. Once tightened it works like a charm.

Glad it is fixed...
