Steering too loose

Got my AV back after 1st dealer oil change and the steering is looser. Chevy reccommends lubing ball joints each oil change so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. No on center feel now. The steering however is easier to turn know in parking lots. When it was new the steering was very heavy in parking lots but was just right for highway cruising. Does anybody think the steering is overboosted at higer speeds.

My first reaction upon driving the Av was that the steering too vague. Easy and not much feel. Guess I've gotten used to it. Doesn't seem to bother me now. Can't say the same for the brakes. Still takes too much "push" to stop! But stop it will when you push hard enough on that pedal.

My wife has been telling me that the Av's steering seems to be too loose lately. Guess it's time to bring it in to the dealer.

I had problem that felt like my entire steering column was clunking and I could feel even a pebble in the road, the dealer said this was a common complaint with chevy truck not just Avalanche so they lubed the intermediate steering shaft......take it apart and pack it with grease. Problem solved! Now if I could just get rid of my plastic vibrating sound! ;D

same here...could feel minor road bumps through the steering column. After service, seems better for a time so I'm guessing lube is the reason. This is backwards from the complaint above that the steering is looser after service. Suffice it to say that full size chevy trucks have loose, vague steering and most everyone acknowledges that. Go read reviews at Edmunds or most anywhere...almost all say it, GM engineers just apparently don't listen.

Now, if they could just get it to feel a little more like the wifes VW :0:

I had the same problem. The sterring wheel was giving me major feedback when I would go over a smallest bump. I took it to the dealer and they lubed a joint in the steering column. It didn't solve the problem so I went back and they replaced the joint. The tech said there was a bulletin on this problem for Tahoes and Suburbans and that it wasn't a noticeable problem on Av's. If you open your hood you can see the joint on the steering column in plain sight. That is what needs replacing. Good luck!!
