I'm so sorry but here is another pic of the blue mirror lights. To do this mod you can go to Autozone and buy domelight covers (Blue) and under the mirror with a flathead screwdriver you can pop out the housing for the light and then unplug it and with a philips unscrew the housing take out bulb and slip the domelight cover over it. close it plug it back up and pop it in. Now when you open your door it's blue under the mirror.

Looks good! I have red's in mine and like 'em.

Please share details on the strobe lights.

David

Everything... brand... method of installation; new bulbs, drilled holes for additional bulbs, etc.

David

There are a total of 4 bulbs in the front of the Av. Total cost of strobes $35.00. $10 for the strobes for the driving lights and $25 for the strobes for the headlights (the bulb a are pretty much the same as the others just longer). The shorter bulbs came with blue, red, green, purple, and clear caps. A rocker switch was included with each kit. I did not use those switches. I will post a picture of the switch I installed soon. In the driving lights there is already a hole drilled. It is covered by a blue piece of tape. I removed the tape and expanded the whole for the strobe to fit flush. I removed the driving lights and then removed the headlights and in the section for the highbeams I drilled a whole from above and placed strobe light in. Put everything back like it was and wiring will be explained later. If you notice in the picture of the strobes you see that the strobes in the headlights flashed and you can notice blue dots coming from the driving lights. Those are APC's Illuminators($10). The are an easy install using double sided tape.

CAUTION on removing blue tape on lights on AV.

Guys and gals, that tape is there for a reason and so is the hole. If you are planning strobe instals, I suggest you drill your own hole and dont take the shortcut of using the existing hole.

That hole is there to allow moisture buildup to escape. The tape over the hole is breathable tape. The tape is there to keep bugs and stuff out of your lights. In the long run, you will have mold mildew and other nasty corrosion set in your lights if you plug this hole with a strobe. If you remove the tape, be prepared to pursuade a dirt dobber, wasp, bee, moth ..... to get out of your light!!!

Just some advice for those planning on messin with the blue tape on the lights.

So the cover is a little sleave type thingy? I did this mod, but bought blue bulbs. The blue color burnt off right away and they went back to white. I would like to try this. I also replaced the bulbs in the doors and under the dash with with blue. They are 'normal' bulbs and the color seams to last longer. I also have a lot of blue neon, i don't know if you're into that but you might want to check out the picturetrail link in my sig.

You can also set up a free personal picture sight there.

I removed the "breathable" tape June 8th and have yet to have a moisture problem as a result of the removal. Yes the it is the sleeve for the blubs. Nice neon setup. I saw that the neons inside are on the midgate, could I get a picture of how you mounted them on there? That is one of the next things on the my list-o-mods.

I left the blue tape covered-hole alone. ?I installed mine through same slot as the existing bulbs. ?They have been working fine since February.

I got the neons that are on the midgate from Target. Set of 2 with one power cord long enought to go under back and front seats to plug into the dash. I think they are 8 inch. $25 for the set. They are installed with velcro. They came with screws and 2 sided tape, but I used velcro so when I put the midgate down I can take them off. If you want to install them permanently, I believe mmdavidw has red ones installed lower behind the seat. Check Goo's neon thread (He is a Neon God)

You can click my banner below for pictures, will have a how-to write up someday... but it's pretty self explainatory from the pictures. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

David

This may sound dumb, but.... are the strobes brighter? Is it just for a different color/effect? I haven't seen them in person so I really don't know. ???

Hey goo why didn't I think of installing them that way before. Do you know some sites where I can get some like 3" or 4" neons. I got those pioners in the doors and I would like to put neons in there. It would look pretty nice with blue neon coming out of the speaker encloser on the doors. Goo Could I get a daytime picture showing me how you have those neons in the headlights and turn signals? Could I also have a picture of where you have your switches for your accessories? I put my strobe switches inside the counsel right next to the coin holder where you can notice a circle I just put them there.

~Joel

For the price I paid they are decent ($10). I'm not read to put out $300-$400 for a strobe kit yet. The one's I have you can notice during the day but are pretty good for the night. The expensive ones are very visible during the day.

can you get me a part # for the dome light covers? I called Autozone and another place and they don't know what I'm talking about.

I have two sets of strobes installed in my turn signals and hi-beams. I have thought about putting neons behind my speaker grills too.

I used to use the same spot in my for the switch for my underbody neon. It was a hassle to get to when I had to switch them off quickly

They are NOW installed next to my cup holder now so my hand can quickly get to them.

Check out the topic that jnspur mentioned above.

Not many sites sell 3" mini-neons. One place with good prices is
Vanhorn
. I can find them locally but they will be closer to retail which isn't cheap.

The strobes that I have are from APC and I was able to get them from Autozone. Pep Boys also has them but I think it's PILOT who makes them there.

jnspur here is a picture of the packaging for the Gel Sleeves For Dome Lamps. PILOT makes them Part number on the package is WI-802B. They cost like 2 dollars or less.
