A couple of months ago, I bought that Stubby Euro Antenna off the guy on Ebay for $11.00. I loved it and it worked well. I didn't believe the fine print that you had to take it off for the car wash... it's flexible, right?? ;-)

Well, take my word for it, mine broke last time through the car wash. It still works OK, although I don't listen to the radio much, I mostly listen to my MP3 player. It's cracked at the base and when the truck is standing still, it still looks like it does while doing 50.... So, I decided to try to find a different one, just to compare. Anyway, I've found a different model and will let you know how it compares to the Ebay one... It's a hell of lot cheaper ($4.50).

I bought one one of those $11.00 stubby antennas off of EBay also. I was driving down the road after I had left the car wash when I noticed my antenna was gone. This was the first time I had my truck washed since I installed it.

I guess you get what you pay for.

Well, if you read the directions, it says [paraphrasing] This is like any other antenna. It must be removed before going through a car wash.

I just didn't believe it. I went through the car wash about 4 times before it busted, though...

ps. Don't tell anyone that I clean my truck ;-)

OMG    You clean your truck? Oh the insanity of it all :C:

*me goes to make sure I have the chamois hidden away* ;)

Does anyone remove their stock antenna when going through the carwash? I've never removed mine, before the stubby incident, and never had a problem.

Yea, I always removed the stock one... (Actually the [politically incorrect name] car wash dudes always took it off.

Just so I don't ruin my rep, here's a quick shot of the antenna before I went to the car wash...

I still haven't taken mine through a drive through car wash! I can't bear the thought of all that swirling mayhem traveling across my still swirl free paint!

Ahhh... The good ole days of swirl free paint ;D

I replaced mine with a shorter black aluminum antenna. The last time I went to the car wash, then did take it off. What pissed me off is that they didn't put it back on and just left it wet on my leather seat!. :8:

I wish I could say the same. Where I live, in Frederick Md., we are in the middle of drought conditions. We're not allowed to wash our cars. If we get caught, we get a warning the first time. If we get caught a second time, we get fined.

I got swirls.

Hummmm...I got me one o them there stubbie things, but I aint never been through no automatic car wash. I prefer the look of a hand wash ;D Of course I haven't been muddin, nor through a winter season yet >:D But there is nothing like a good hand washing in 105 degree heat.

UPDATE

Got my new stubby antenna today, and as expected, it is identical to the Ebay dude's. It was shipped in a much better box, however. So, if you're looking for a stubby antenna, go with this one!

My AV is afraid of being confined in a car wash without me so I listen to it's fear and hand wash it :)

I've got two euro style antennas. Obviously I don't go through no drive thru car washes >:D
