Sent an E-mail to subthump to see if there was a waiting list for when they start producing the midgates again and they responded back saying they will not ship them anymore because of the amount of damage received to them during shipment.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how they can get these boxes out to the people like me who are a good distance away? I can't be the only one who'd like one these babies shipped to them.

that sux.  because of the screw ups by the delivery people, we all have to suffer.  hopefully, he finds someone else to handle the delivery of them.

Wow - That REALLY sucks! I know my first box got sent back by UPS because they broke the shipping crate, and when Steve got it back there was no crate on it, and still no damage. The second one came with a damaged crate, and a few scratches, but nothing major. I know he was having a lot of problems with UPS, but thought he had a better deal worked out with FedEx.

This is truly a great box, and I really feel bad this has happened. Let's all e-mail him and ask him to reconsider. Maybe he can use a freight company.

Don't most freight companies require business addresses for delivery?

True, but most of us work at a business address or know someone who does.

A freight company is a great idea. I think you can actually pick them up from a major freight line's loading dock.

Just do some checking before you order and make sure there are no hidden cost.  When I had stuff shipped to Germany, I had to pick it up from shipping companies and it was relatively simple

I'm definitely interested in one of these.  I would be willing to send an email.  Are we doing a group email or just individual?

I have been doing e-mail exchanges with Steve - Mr. SubThump, and he has a few alternative ideas he is looking at right now, so it's not dead yet!

I would say if you are ready to commit, or very close - send him an e-mail telling him!!

Did you guys make any progress?  I want to get one of these.   I don't like all the alternatives.

I've already bought a box and amp rack from subthump a few years ago for my camaro and it was really good quality.

They have a new midgate style box listed for sale now.? Have you seen it?? It looks nice.? I may be in the market for one of them soon.? Here's some pics of it from their website.

If you're talking about the one I think you're talking about.   I really don't feel like doing anything that's irreversible.   As in cutting my midgate.   I also don't think I have the tools to do it.   Although, I'll be honest and say that I really don't know what the midgate transformation procedure entails.

Man that looks great and only $200.00. It is real simular to that griffgriffin box but about 500 to 700 cheaper. People were goo goo over that box and you couldn't even get it. You can even get the face of this box in what ever color you want. The only way you could get that box was to mail your midgate to them and pay shipping both ways.

SubThump builds some quality stuff for sure! I hadn't seen this new box yet, but ut looks great. We have the midgate replacement box from them, and it just kicks butt! We went to the SoCal Mega Meet last week and won the Best Audio Award with it. We have 2-12" Memphis subs in it, powered by 1000 watt Memphis amp, and it puts out the cleanest bass I've heard, with no fill in it.

Really happy with the product, and the service and pricing are awesome!

Nick-
Is that one that is pictured $200?  Does it come as shown with the midgate hardware and all?  those are super sweet.  where are they located?

I think the one that is pictured above is the $200 one, and it looks like it goes into your existing midgate. The one we have is a full midgate replacement.

He's located in Indiana - heres his link:

Here's the one we put in from SubThump:

I spoke to SubThump just last week.   He was more than willing to ship me one.   I chose not to because I keep using the midgate.   I will keep this open as option B.
I am surprised someone was told they (subthump) wouldn't ship them.   Insurance on the shipping sounds like a sound investment.

Through email conversations a while ago, he told me he would not be shipping the midgate replacement box like the one 04avfan has.

From what I see he is shipping the new version, but not the full replacement gate. He doesn't even offer that model on his website anymore. As I understand it I got the last one that was shipped. Insurance wasn't an option with that style of packaging at that point, he had to cover any damage himself, thats why he quit shipping that size of box.

Bottom line is the new style of box IS available, and shipable, and I would highly recommend getting one. Seems like he has made installation really simple for a midgate retro fit. In my opinion everything I have heard of his sounds better then anything on the market.

do you have to cut into your midgate in order to install it?  When I was looking at it, that is what it seems like.

Yes you do, but he gives you the templates to cut it, and some real good instuctions from what I see.

Anyone ever seen the boxes (underseat, midgate) from TOPEDGEONLINE. COM They are very similar to the subthump boxes. I just picked up a full midgate replacement from topedge, slot vented for 2 15s, like $350 shipped. This box is amazing! Worht the extra $150 over the subthump, you also keep your OE midgate in one piece!
