Tailgate Security Without Electronics

I've been reading threads about the very detailed process of making your tailgate secure with power/remote equipment. Is there a product, or a way to protect them if you are not a mechanical genius?

:cry:My cousin had his tailgate and covers stolen last night. His tailgate was locked with the stock lock...lot of good that did. Neither one of us are mechanics and need some help. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the tailgate theft.

There are inexpensive tailgate locks that should work. Here's one:

? the tailgate does have a pretty sorry system. ?i have had mine apart doing the EXT handle/bezel mod, and this is what i noticed.
? ?:cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: :cautious: ?

? i did have a very descriptive explanation type here. ?i decided to delete it. ?i do not want to be the reason someone else gets there tailgate, or panels swiped. ?lets just say i was thinking of a way to fabricate a theft deterrent for the easily accessible lock assembly in the tailgate. ?when i do i will post pics. :B: ? i think most people are just as worried about there contents as well as the covers and tailgate.

Does an imoblizer-type alarm system work in the tailgate area? I'm not informed about alarm systems. But I'd really like to avoid any more wiring or mechanical things. Maybe mechanical is the only way to stop it though?

i saw a post here yesterday where someone had added an alarm to the factory alarm that was plug and play simple. cant remember what type but it was
something...something 4200 i think.
It had a motion sensor on it.

Rod,
We've been discussing the 4200 GM alarm under the audio/video/electronics forum. The only problem with the 4200 is that it is not compatable with Onstar.
