That Over Head Area Above The Mirror

Has any one seen a computerized Driver Information in the area just above the mirror in that small cubby hole? I thought the first time I test drove a 2003 Avalanche I saw a display read out in that area, but now I can't find a single AV with that in it.

If there was already a post on this topic please direct me to the appropriate thread as I haven't been able to find it.
