The problem is that it is getting huge. I have been a member for around a year now of CAFCNA and brouse it daily. The problem that i now have is that I ran across a truck accesories weblink from one of the other members, didn't mark it, and now due to the 100s of pages of CAFCNA can't seem to refind it. The item that I'm looking for is designed for parking assistant in a garage. The item shines a laser on to your hood to a predetermined spot to help park. I don't want it for this purpose, but am still looking for this device for my Avalanche. If you know of the websight, or where to get this item please let me know.

You can get it at JC Whitney JC whitney Catalog

Also look at Laser escort - another variant.

Now, what was the problem ;D

You posted your question at 2:28 pm.

You got multiple directions from none other than an administrator himself at 4:05 pm.

Is that service (with a :)) or what?

You said that the CAFCNA is getting too big.

All my life I was told that size doesn't matter ;D

Hope this shows you how this group works. Impressed the heck out of me the first time I posted a question like yourself shortly after I joined.

Got hooked ever since.

This Club just rocks  I want to get to use this unit to verify the ass end of my avalanche is all the way in the garage. My garage door opener is old and doesn't have the invisible eye for protection. I can mount the laser on the garage wall to project across the back end of the avalanche, hit a small mirror and the laser dot will then be projected onto the front wall of the garage when the truck is all the way in. The joy of a small garage, and a big truck. Thanks

Believe me, the AV can make ANY garage look small!

I know that the cladding and all that plastic, proTec liner etc, is supposed to protect your investment from dings but the last thing you want is your garage door to hit the "AZ end" as you put it, while closing the door. So installing a laser guide sounds like a great idea ? (y)

I am also glad that somebody else is considering a high tech solution to a common problem. Just much more elegant than MY solution: the old tennis ball from the ceiling. Yukkk! :9:

Well guys... if you don't get the laser thing. Trust my word from experience... the cladding and top of the bed holds up GREAT against garage doors. I've done it probably 5 times already :)

No worries.

Hey Doiton:
I installed the back up camera on my AV awesome it goes where ever I go and I already have it down packed as to where to stop in my garage and on top of that I get a lot of ooohs and ahhhhs, just my $0.02.

If you decide on something less high tech Harrington sells a small mat that you roll up on.I keep my AV in a carport that worked great for my Exploer Sport Trac but when the AV moved in I had to extend the carport by 5'. The LASERPARK is a good price but not made to stand up(you could have problems with this unit.)

I'm not trying to bust your chops, so don't be offended, OK? It's just you say you don't want it for it's intended purpose of telling you when you're in position, but instead, you want it to tell you when you're in position.

Sure, you could work out some mounting positions, mirrors, and all that, but why go to all that work?

Why not just use it how it was designed? As I understand, you simply pull the truck in position, and mount this thing to the ceiling so it shines down on your truck in a known position. All you need to do pull your truck in once so that it just clears the door. Then mount this so that it doesn't shine on the hood, but is just past it into the wiper cowl area.

From then on, as you pull in, you will see the spot of the laser shining on your hood. As long as you can see it on your hood, you know you're blocking the door. As soon as it is past your hood and shining on the wipers or windshield, you know you're good.

Also, if you line it up so that it shines on on one of the creases of the hood, you have a target to line yourself up side to side so you know you're properly centered.

Mounting it up there on the cieling would mean that it's out of the way. It or your mirror(s) couldn't get bumped out of position. Clutter in the garage wouldn't block the light beam. And finally, you'd only have one piece to mount.

After all this, I may not have convinced you of anything, but I think I convinved myself that I need one of these. Actually, I need two, one for my wife's car!

Hey, Gxx... Did you notice that of the three links you provided, two are identical? And the third one is for the same product, but from a different vendor, and a significantly lower price? ;D

Water Dog, thanks for your link! That one may be the best for me, since you can add a second laser at a cheaper price. Sounds like that's the better way to go if you have a double garage. (y)

Update: sjudson, just read your post, we must have been typing at the same time. Have you heard of problems with the system Water Dog found?

I'll admit it, the main reason I said there was a problem with CAFCNA as the subject of this forum is that i knew people would read it. Second i would like to thank one of the big dogs of the club, and the others for helping me out. I do enjoy this club daily. As for ShapeShifter, the reason that I cant use the unit as designed, is that as i said i am dealing with only a few inches in front and back of my Av, and the truck will only fit in when it is parked at an angle in the garage. If i use the overhead mark that wont guarantee that the rear bumper is in, because of the angle of the truck. This way I'll know. I was going to design a system myself, but then i saw this system and decided that with a few small modes, it should work. Thanks again to all

ShapeShifter,no i didn't know about his problem but I made the mistake of buying their reverse warning system(junk) and replaced it after becoming a member and reading about the Rosta system( still working great). The CAFCNA is great.
