Tire size vs wheel width

I have ordered 305/40/22 tires.  The recommended wheel width is 10-12", mine are 9.5.  I know alot of people are using this size tire, do you have the same width wheels as me, or is everyone else using 22x10?  Pucker factor 10

I'm sure that 9.5 rim width will be fine, and I personally like the tire sidewall to buldge a little -- looks better that way!
