I am getting a set of 20"x8.5" rims for my 2004 Av.

The recommended size that I saw for the 17" to 20" upgrade was 275/55/20.

My question is.... Can I go wider without rubbing ???

Magnus...what the boys above said is true you can go wider. I don't know if you do much off roading but if you do BF Goodrich is coming out with a 285/55/20 All-Terain KO that I am definately going to consider. Should be out late winter. Of course the big thing to watch out for when changing wheels is off-set / back spacing. You could put your stock tire on a wheel with improper back spacing and experience rubbing.

Hi, I had (still have) a set of yoko 295/45/20 tires. no rubbing. Put on a set of 295/50/20 Falkens. small amount of rubbing in reverse with hard turn, BUT, I have a 3 inch drop on the front end.
Having run the Falkens for a few months now, in some very very crappy roads, I would buy again in a heartbeat. (y)
As said above, where you live and what you do with the truck will impact what tires might be best.
