has anyone installed a 2 1/16th round guage anywhere in they're av instead of upgrading the cluster? i know the factory look is usually wanted but to take an aftermarket guage and mount it where the traction control button is or on the A pillar would def be alot cheaper.
if you mounted them on the pillar where did you geth the interior piece, i would like to do this instead of moving the traction button but it wouldn't look bad at the cubby location either
also where did you put the sending unit?
I plan on doing this soon and any input would be great, thanks guys.

One of the reasons so many folks replace clusters is that the sending unit is already on the tranny, and it is already wired to the Instrument Panel harnesses hard shell connector.

This makes the whole modification Plug and Play...snap in the hard shell connector, screw in the 4 screws that hold the Instrument Panel and you're done.

So if you are going aftermarket, you will need to ensure the gauge is compatible with the sending unit (probably but depends)...and then either rewire or jump the existing wiring to your gauge.

You may also still be able to get a gauge into your stock cluster...I had heard that one of the more popular supplies quit making it, but then read that some folks found a way to still get it done.

Hopefully someone will post who RECENTLY added a gauge to their stock cluster

yeah i was looking into just replacing the cluster, but i can buy 3-4 temp guages for the price it would cost me to do that and i am not about to do that. function before form, and thats a lot of money

well i ordered the pillar mount for my guage, made by AUTOMETER .....the most horrible piece of poop craftsmanship i've ever seen. so they bore a hole for the tweetwers but its about a 1/4 inch too big in diameter, so when i mount it you see a gap about 1/8 around the whole speaker.
So i quickly threw that out and am just going to wire the guage in another location.
just wanted to let yall know what not to waist your money on.
