:help: Recently started happening to my '02 Z71.
Turn key to run. All OK. Start vehicle, Instrument panel dead. No lights, nothing. Engine running. After 2 minutes, everything pops on. Speedo, fuel, mileage, etc. However, my tranny is stuck in 3rd. I only have 2nd, 3rd and reverse. I have to shift manually.
This doesn't happen all the time, so it is hit or miss.
When this doesn't happen, every thing works fine to include the tranny and shifting. All fluid levels OK, Breakers checked.
Will be taking to a dealership but want an idea before I go.
Any one have similar troubles?

Ignition switch, possibly.

Check for codes.

First take the knee bolsters off then dash cover then the guages then the sterring collumn covers. if you look below the lock cynender < I kno i can't spell> you will see thw switch follow that harness and look for duct tape on a single wire, GM screwup they tried to fix at factory, put a but splice on it and will fix the problem.

P.S. I kno cause i fixed it on my truck.

Interesting find! Doesn't surprise me, though. Sure would beat the heck out of having to buy the whole module if the only problem is a shoddy factory connection. Thanks for the info! I'll have to remember that.
