Hi guys,

I know this is short notice, but I will be in the Raleigh area on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  I don't know the exact details of my trip yet and I haven't even booked it.  I will be in my office tomorrow and will know all of the details tomorrow afternoon.  I will probably be in the Johnston County area on Wednesday and staying somewhere near the Wake Forest area on Wednesday night.  Maybe we can do dinner somewhere in Raleigh.  I am not particular as to where to eat, since I eat out all of the time.  Anywhere is good with me.  If interested, just post up here.  I will be out of touch until tonite as my family and I are presently in Summersville, WV on our return trip home from vacationing in Washington, DC.

Not that I'm going to be there, but if in Raleigh you should try Hard Times Cafe.... mmm, I need a fix bad.... This was/is my favorite restaurant that we used to go to in MD, now they have a location in Raleigh.

For what it's worth...

My travel plans are now complete.  I will be in Johnston County on Wednesday and have a meeting at 2:00 p.m. that should be complete at 5:00 p.m.  I will be staying at the Hampton Inn on Wake Towne Drive in North Raleigh tomorrow night.  We could plan a dinner for sometime around 7:00 p.m. in or around the North Raleigh area if anyone is interested.  Anyone interested and where would you recommend for dinner?

I am pretty flexible and will have GPS Navigation so anywhere would be good for me.

I will be returning home on Thursday afternoon.

Hey!!! I use to live there!!!  Smithfield (near the Community College) And Selma (by the R.R.)

I'd suggest the Mustang Ranch  >:D  But I dont think that would fit in to the "Family Vacation" aspect.

Glad to see you guys having such a great time and seeing so much of the Eastern U.S.!

I completed a project at the hospital in Smithfield several years ago.  Sleepy little town.

John, lot's of good places to eat in that area. I'm partial to Red Hot and Blue. Good Memphis style food. Let's see if anyone else has any suggestions. Guess I'll stay around Raleigh after work tomorrow. No need to drive home and come back down.

Okay..there is a Bahama Breeze, Denys, Lonestar Steakhouse, The Melting Pot (Fondue), Kahnki ? Japaneses Steakhouse, Chillis (I think)

For lighter fare

there is bear rock cafe and some fast food places too!

As my better half put it, the Japanese steakhouse in Crabtree Mall is good, but if you all want to do Red/Hot/Blue think I'll have to pass. They just got a horrible inspection not that long ago (one in Cary), almost shutdown kind of violation if I remember right.

Think there are a few decent places up near Triangle Town Center too. If you guys figure something out let me know - I'm hungry

Anybody know anything about where mhough recommended, Hard Times Cafe?

Never been there but would be OK to try if you want. If you're thinking about going that far back downtown, we've also been to this Irish Pub which had a really nice Gaelic Steak. Been a while since we've tried it, but it was good too:

Shayne's not talking about the Red, Hot, and Blue in Cary..he's talking about the one on Falls of the Neuse in Raleigh, I love their foood!!!!

Another option is Hooter's just up the road from his hotel.

Shows what I know...had never heard of one around this area other than the one in Cary.

I've never been but I might be able to find it.? (y)
