I have a 2002 2500 with about 8,000 miles on it. During a recent 700 mile round trip excursion (1) both low-beam headlight bulbs blew out at the same time, (2) the heater refused to work for a time and then suddenly behaved again (this happened twice), (3) the 'check oil level' light came on and after checking the oil level I discovered I was down enough oil so that it didn't even read on the dipstick (I'm using Mobil1 and made that change in September at around 3800 miles).

I've made various mods which have up to this point never given me any visible problems, including the one-wire low beam/high beam on-at-the-same-time mod plus I'm using 80w Xenon low-beam bulbs. No fuses blown. No oil usage at all up to this last incident, no oil dripping that I can see or smoke out the tailpipe.

Anybody have any ideas what's going on with my baby? It's making me a little nervous... ???

Just this week my '02 Z71 with 7500 miles played heater tag with me. I started up one morning and the fresh air, recirculated air and rear defog lights were on - at the same time! :6: And I didn't press them, either. To make matters worse it blew hot air no matter which way the temp comtrol was turned. I stopped at my destination, shut down, re-started, and the problem disappeared...........weird :(

RedC - normal oil usage for the 2500 is 1qt/1000 miles during its early life - some do better than that - just keep track of it if you don't see a leak.

As to the heater - they are weird - check with dealer - lots of issues posted.

The headlights, thats strange, that both would go out - I would check my mods carefully for a short.

For the headlights..check the ground wire...where you modded it....if it is lose or not a good contact this could have created a spike if it moved and that may have blown bulbs ...or ...?
