Well I finally went out and got the US flag window film yesterday. Install was not *too* hard, but let me see if I can help a few of you all get through some of the "twists".

First, I pulled the rear glass out and put it out on my patio on top of some soft towels so I could work with it better (This makes it a LOT easier than most window film).
Next, against the recomendation of the directions (who follows those things anyhow ;) ) I did some raw cutting to get it *about* the right size (always leave extra, more cutting is easy, splicing in is hard  ) next I got some packing tape and taped the edges to the underside of the glass (this should keep it stable while you cut). Next I cut into the film using a SHARP exacto along the corner and slid the blade following the edge of the glass. The border makes a nice guide, but be carefull around the corners as the film will tend to "pull" you in away from the border!
BTW, this is not a scary as it seems, the film is up off the glass so the exacto *blade* cuts through the film and you only need to gently ride the blade tip along the glass without putting any real pressure on the glass with the blade.
Next I pulled off the backing while my wife hosed the film and glass with windex (too much is not enough).
then I set it in place and fitted it as best I could and started triming the ugly bits (this is by far the hardest part, as the film will "squirm" all over and you must be careful not to shift the whole thing and cut too much)
Next I started squeeging (sp?) the bubbles and windex out using the included squeege and bailing the windex out of the corners ;)
Squeege and squeege some more until all bubbles are gone. Let it sit flat for a few hours, every once and a while use paper towels to soak up as much windex as you can (don't rub just blot).
Here is the project at this step.

And then after a few hours put the window back in and voila (y)

Hope this was helpfull, let me know if you have any questions :)

Another cutting tool people may wish to consider is a rotory cutter, which is frequently used to cut fabric. Less chance of scratching the glass and easier to control. However, you may still need the knife for the corners.

Just installed the same screen on my AV this evening. On sale right now at Discount Auto Parts for $29.99.

No problem with the over all installation, but I did slip on one of those corners and I took off a tad too much, but it still looks good. You would have to be real close to see my screw up. Dammit Jim I'm a programmer not tint man.

I too cliped the corner but I wasn't going to say anything till someone else fessed up to doing the same ;)

(Besides we network admins always point out programers for fouling things up to take attention away from us messing stuff up :p )
