I have been searching desperately for my av and have been coming up a little short. It seem that the ones in my price range dont have a couple of the things that I want. So I stumbled upon what I think is a deal ,an 03 with 18000 miles and pretty much loaded.Z-71 buckets adjustable pedalsauto climate rear seat contrrols ect. My question is ,I know he has towed with it and it appears to be in great shape.(he said it was scratched once and he had it painted) and he is asking 26000.00 for it.Seems like a great deal to me. Is there anything that he could have done to it towing that would affect the life of the truck. Is it a good deal? ???

how much did they tow with it ,and what. My two sled snowmobile trailer I'm sure puts less stress than a four horse trailer. Did they tow bulldosers out of the mud? If the A/V was treated good, towing should not be a problem. Good luck with your almost new Avalanche if you bye.

USED vehicles are that used.....and you will never know what the owner did to it......

They are a risk...sometimes you win sometimes you lose...and no mechanic could tell you wether it is a good one or a bad one.....

Good luck

This might give you a ballpark idea of what a new 03 would cost. Assuming your getting leather etc. and with rebates, an AV off the lot would cost approx $4000 more.
You can go to www.edmunds.com and punch in your own zip code color, options for a better idea. You should be able to get a new one (03) for invoice, then subtract rebates.

Thanks, It doesnt have leather or a sunroof but it seems to have everything else. Its hard when a brand new one is approx. $ 50 a month more. The best price I have found thus far on a av with the Z-71 comes out to 29,500 . The only problem is itdoest have a couple of things I want such as roof rack and buckets.but after reading some of the posts here, the buckets are less of an issue.I get the general idea that most are happy with the bench seat. They say they can add the factory roof rack, but I am not sure that is the greatest idea.I wonder if thule makes one that clamps on., I will have to check. I know I will have todo something soon. This is eating me alive.I took one on a 24 hr test drive almost a month ago. Bad move.!!!

My .02 if the difference in buying a new AV vs. a used one is only $50.00 a month I would buy new AV and find the options I want in an '04, this way you get what you want and don't have to worry about what might have been on a used one :B:

i was going to say the samething. no questoin as to which one i would get. besides, you would get better finance rates on the new AV. so on paper the $50 may not be as noticable.

My $.02 is that $26k is a little bit high depending on where you live. 18,000 miles on an 03 is a lot of miles for only one year, especially if the person was towing a large portion of the time. Like others have said with a used vehicle you never know what the person has done.

Don't know if you have done it, you can to the the Kelley Blue book web site and get an estimate of the fair market value of a used vehicle.

Kelley Blue Book Web Site

I estimated the options that the vehicle has for my area and the price did not come out to $26k.

With the current rebates and such on 04's you can probably get pretty darn close to $26k for a brand new one.
