The building I work in has USGS offices several floors down. I just heard through the grapevine that they purchased 5 new Avs for their employees to do site tests. Someone in charge (who deserves a promotion IMHO) decided that the Av is the perfect vehicle - goes anywhere, seats five, or can be fully loaded with stuff. One of our guys here at work talked with them and they're pretty excited. (who wouldn't be!)

Apparently there's a fleet of brand new shiny white Avalanches with government plates down in the parking garage!!!! I'm headed down a little later to check it out myself.

WOW - the gov't did something right for once - to bad they got WHITE - LOL Pewter would blend in with the field much better

Just went down and looked. No Avs, but all their spots were empty except one that had a big utility truck sort of thing in it. What are these guys doing working when I want to check out their new rides!?

I'll see if I can get pics later.

FInally the Gov has seen the light!! Praise be to the AV gods!!!

If you see a DGM at fast food and Dunkin Donuts places you shouldn't be shocked. Come on in and say hi to me!
;D

I think USGS doesn't have that same rep that LEO's have.

Reminds me. A while back my family was coming home from some event and it was really late. My 4 year old was in the back, and we were desperate to get him to sleep. Those of you with kids understand what we were going to have to put up with the next day. He was hungry, so we figured fill him up and he'll pass out in his car seat.

Pull in at the McDonalds and while we're ordering, in walks a local LEO. He gets right down on one knee and proceeds to have a 20 minute conversation with my son, then we all go out for a tour of his squad car (followed by a tour of my Avalanche)

I just thought it was a really nice gesture. He went out of his way to talk to a little kid who was clearly tired and out of sorts and it was a big deal to my son.

Not sure how this fits in here, just thought I'd share... :2:

WOW! Not sure if I have ever heard of a LEO doing something like that. Man must have been a father himself.
