I was reading in this months issue of Motor Trend (or truck Trend ) about that GM might drop in a Vortec V12 in the Caddilac Escalade that would put out 500 Horse Power  that would be an sweet engine in the AV but there goes the gas milage >:D

Did you also note the comment about the Escalade being the only thing big enough to hold it

I could fit one in my 2500^^

So, whats wrong with that - i could just get a second one, larger injectors and split it into two six's^^

Talk about the ultimate truck!

Whoo Hooo

I for one hope they do it.

What I'm wondering - why a V12? Why not a 10?

I imagine they'd keep the displacement well under 500CI... A 12 would have smaller pistons and stroke, which would mean a higher rev's. A big 10 like a Viper would be plenty healthy.

I'm just happy to see the engine make it into one of the GM line of vehicles....I would like to plant my back end in one of those puppies upon release...... :B:

More cylinders = more torque and a smoother running engine. V12's and even V16's are nothing new. Caddy had a V16 in the 30's.

I don't think you want that oldCaddy V16, G. It had less cid than your BB, and made only 165 hp (big time #'s by 1930 standards).

I hear ya Steel... I'm just picturing a V12 running like the CART cars. A real high-revving, high pitched screamer. ( Aren't they running like 3.5 liter V8's? )

I'd rather have a V10 with larger pistons, personally!
