Vent Visors

I just finished installing bug shield and mud flaps. However I am hesitant about the vent visors. Will that double sided tape damage the paint if they come off or are removed? How important is it to install them when the temperature is warm?

install them when above 50 F

The tape can always be removed with Naptha (lighter Fluid) in the future.

Clean well with alchohol and make sure you have no wax.

DocToss,

I actually have a set of visors on my truck, but didnt go the tape route.

I ordered the inline visors that run within the window channel.

I love them and glad I chose that model. The scariest part was installing the rears. You actually have to remove the inner liner of the window, but it was a breeze.

If you're wondering, I ordered them from Stylin Concepts and I believed they ran for $69.95, but well worth it.

Here's a few pics of the rig with the visors on.

j166a99, Nice looking truck. I like the visors not using tape. It looks like they are installed on the door and not the body of the truck, is that correct? I believe the gm visors tape on the body of the truck. Do yours work well, and could tell me more on the install. My tape ones may go up for sale. Thanks

thanks Doc,

a little more detail on the vent visors:

the visors are in-line or in-channel visors. the front visors, as you saw, line the whole front and upper portion of the window. its a one piece design that slides into the window channel (windows down of course) front end first, then a quick bend, and the back goes right in; completely snug and secure. They'll never fall off unless you bend it first, very snug fit, and the windows roll right up (2 second install ea.).

then there's the rear. i recommend this as a 2 man job. you'll have to roll the windows down with the door open and you'll notice a black rubber strip that surrounds the window. you'll have to temporarily remove it, and its very easy. start from the middle and try to get your nail between the door and the strip, pull down and remove all upper portion to about halfway down the window. the kit comes with clips, so you'll need to premeasure the clip placement on each side of the visor and the best way is to have another person place a piece of tape exactly where you think the clip belongs. then place the clips in, hand press the rubber strip back in, and then you'll have to clips sticking out between the rubber and door on the outside. slide the visor in, and push in the plastic pin locks and wala...

...instant visors.

let me know if you need any other info.

j166a99,

I agree...nice looking truck ;)

I like your rig's "Altitude Attitude"------tell us about your lift

The GM Accessories Vent Visors are lighter plastic and more susceptible to scratching than the Ventshades I had on my Jimmy. The tape hasn't been a problem.

I like the other ones, not the gm ones that came with my protection package. Therefore if anyone wants to buy he gm tape on ones I am going now to the for sale section to place them for sale. I am going to ask $30, $58.80 on gmpartsdirect.

Greetings 'Lanchers !!!!

Wondering about the vent visors adding wind noise.

Right now, my stock 'Lanche is quiet as a tomb inside - VERY LITTLE if any wind noise.

Don't want to add any noise.

Have any of you who bought them noticed new wind noise at highway speeds?

Thanks !!! ;D

Has anyone installed just the front pair and left the back pair off?

I'm not too fond of the idea of using the tape or pulling back the weather striping for the back windows.

I've been thinking about going with in-channel visors for the front windows and leaving the back as they are.

Would this look odd?

Weathertech visors are the way to go. The installation is very easy. I have noticed a very, very slight increase in wind noise, but it's really not noticeable. I put some on my wife's Windstar, and the increase in noise was a lot greater.

I agree, irontrain, my back windows will seldom be used.

I think I'm going to go with just the front set for now.....I can always add the rear set later if desired.

I guess I have to disagree on this one. I think that fronts only would look a bit out of balance and appear unfinished. I will crack my rear windows for ventilation more frequently then the fronts. Things seem to stay a bit quieter that way. If you go with the in-channel vent shades, there is no reason to worry about pulling back the molding. They go right back in place and will seal just fine.
