Everyone is downsizing these days ? even Hummer. But this downsizing may actually increase Hummer sales by up to an estimated 100,000 units annually.

This smaller and less expensive Hummer is actually a derivative of the upcoming Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon mid-size trucks, but in SUV guise and with aggressive and macho Hummer styling.

The 2005 H3 will be powered by a straight six, and will be priced nearly $75,000 less than the H1, and $15,000-$20,000 less than the $50,000 H2. The Shreveport, La.-built H3 should be a bargain at the $30,000-$35,000 range when it arrives at dealerships in late 2004.

if you look close at the photos above ~ it looks like the back has a bed topper on it. ?Now look at the photo below...

hummerh2sut.jpg

close or what? ?(the above is not the H3 it is an H2) just using the image to opint out the topper)

Look at the point where the rear door and the back top meet on the front vehicle. There is an offset. I think that is a topper covering the back.

Those look like engineering mules, not even prototypes. Look at the front fenders. Look at how far they stick out from the rest of the truck to cover the wheels. The truck isn't wide enough to accomodate the chassis.

Are we even sure that's a GM? That's a new 4Runner on the bottom.

Biggie, the SUT is like the H2, but with a short, uncovered p/u box in the rear and a midgate.

They look close to the concept sketches...

I think that picture you posted was of the H2 with the Midgate. I may be wrong. The above pictures posted of the H3 are not too attractive to my tastes. I kind of feel like the Hummer name is getting tarnished a lit bit with this one.

The pictures I posted of the Hummer H3 (starting this thread) are indeed, the upcoming H3.

For those of you confusing the H3 with the H2 SUT, here's the picture of that vehicle which will be out soon...

(The H2 SUT is is the Hummer with the midgate)

Does anyone notice something weird about this pic.
The wheels are completely clean yet there is mud on the panels. Doesn't the mud look like it has been sprayed on for effect? The mud splashes look too perfect.

That picture is actually a render of a vehicle and not a real picture of one. Notice that there are no breaks in the lines for the doors, fenders or quarters, just a darker color line where it should be. Also, the picture is too "flat"

? kinda ugly i think.

I would second that!
Personally it doesn't even remind me of a hummer. Other than the tires, it isn't all the aggressive looking. The H2 has a lot of stylin that can compare with its older brother the H1 which is the Ultimate Off-Road Truck! >:D ;D

But this new H3 seems more like the offspring of a Pathfinder mating with a Discovery :9:. I mean if you are into that type of thing, then its perfect, but if I were to get a Hummer I would probably save up and buy an H1 for $85000 (y).

Thats the sut right ??? thats coming out in 04 only if we had a front shot of the trucks
Look in August Issue of FOURWHEELER mag - pics on about page 35 ish

I agree, the first pics show a strong resemblance to a Pathfinder. Maybe those panels are being used to hide the underpinnings...

Look's can be deceiving. Whether the H3 on the car carrier is using a disquise or not, more and more sites are calling it the H3.

Even USAtoday has an article out about it.

The H3 would be based on GM's 2004 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups. Those go on sale early next year as larger, more-powerful replacements for the Chevy S10 and GMC Sonoma compact pickups.

H3 prices could start at less than $30,000.

To keep costs down, H3 could use the five- and six-cylinder engines from the Colorado/Canyon pickups. Launch timing is uncertain..

Tha's not too impressive looking. I think it looks a lot like just about every SUV on the market. I am hoping that they really disquised it and that the real thing looks alot better.

Someone said they saw a movie of a Hummer climbing over a 4' or 5' vertical wall. Does anyone know where I can find that? I'd be interested to see how they handle the approach and break-over.
