I just got a mail saying warranty gold is going bank ruppted. I have this plan and will have to find out what is going on.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post in or not but a moderator can move it if it needs to be moved.

Just fyi..

OK I just called them and I am not covered. So if anyone else is out there witht is plan better check on it.

You should be getting an EMail from "reorganization@ warrantygold.com". Basically says all policies sold before 6/7/03 have been voided by the courts and you have to file a claim to get a refund, prorated refund on a repair. Follow the links and it takes you to the forms that you need to complete and send the the federal courts of west Texas. Then we'll all wait about 2 years to get ten cents on the dollar.

Ya it ssucks big time.. they should honor them under the new contract but that wont happen. :E: :8: :8: :8:

So whats a GM waranty going for these days?

Well there goes my moding money for a while.

I just called my credit union to get a price quote and because i have 30k on my truck they want 1900$ for it. Arg...

This sucks I bought it way back when to avoid the higher cost of the waranty later on.

GM has been sending me stuff on their extended warranty, want $1700 for it, regardless of miles, as long as its purchased before the 3yr/36k warranty is up.

there goes my tax refund.

The GM one isn't that bad....depends on where you get it. But as NascarDave mentioned, they will cover you if you are under the 3yrs and at 35999.9 or less (y)

I'd suggest asking your dealer what their "best" cost is on it.....Remember they have various levels of milage and deductable and since Oct 1, its in addition to your current warranty, not since the "in service" date. So you can buy a 45K mile one and get 81K total miles.

I managed to talk my dealer down a couple hundred dollars on one before I decided to just get a new truck :)

*Note, it does seem that they have more margin in the higher deductible plans than in the 0 deductible ones, FWIW.

This does SUCK!!! I am taliking to Visa to dispute every charge I put on my card for these guys - We used to run a banner for these scum bags and we should ensure it is removed.

Tey have beent elling me almost every month that things will work out - they kept taking my $ and then filed.

Screw Waranty Gold

I met a cousin the summer who was in this field and warned me the aftermarket warranty field would be going through a lot of changes soon and he figured he would be out of a job very soon. Said the offshore holding company came in about 5/03 and begun the process of ditching their companies. He warned me not to do anything if I was looking for one or to renew the one I had on my other car. Makes you :8: :8:

On the GMPP - I have gotten this info and have another couple weeks to decide. Sounds like you guys are getting better pricing than me... $1600 only if I do it before 8,000 mi or 7 months.

I too am a victim of the WG mess. When I learned of the problem a month or so ago I had just finished paying the $1309. Charge for a 100,000 warranty. I'm only at 25K miles now so I had no opportunity to even try to use the warranty. All of my payments were made via Mastercard each month. I contacted MC (sent them a bunch of stuff on the bankruptcy and the statements from WG) and they have credited all the money back to my account with the notation that the credit is "conditional". I think that means it's not final yet.

I've got my fingers crossed that I'll get the money back. I know sometimes things happen that can't be avoided but these people really suck bigtime. They took the last three payments after they knew my warranty was worthless and that really BURNED my a$$. :8: :8: :8: :9:

I got the same plan and have nto used it as I am still under Gm for the next few kmiles.

I paid fo rmine all at once so I do not even have that recouse. Atleast MC has put a hold on it for a few.

It still leaves us woth a30k and 25k miles on our trucks and a warranty is much more money after the first year and with over 10k mile sont he truck

It bites. They even tried to sell me a another plan when I called them What were they thinking??? :8:

so has anyone approached their dealers on getting any good rates on the GMPP?

My dealer offered me a DEAL of 2500 for a 7year 85k miles.

1st Source was 10year/100k for 1500. Umm....I don't think the GM deal was all that good.

YA I tried them and I am still searching. The problem is that we now have USED cars not NEW one so the rate are higher and thats what sucks.

So we get nailed big time from when we first purchased the truck/warranty

I started paying $153/month on March 10. They had their mess in June, and didn't tell anyone until September. Had I known on June 6, I would have canceled and saved myself $456 in loss. I sent in a cancellation to them, and contested the charges with AMEX. They sent AMEX a copy of my cancellation and said that I have to wait 6 weeks for my refund. Then, WHAM, they filed, and AMEX recharged me the payments.

I will be sure to get my paperwork in. I never did find out what happened with their administrator. Did they keep the money?

My problem with them is that while I would probably lose payments before June 6, I can't see why I'd lose the payments after that because since they didn't tell me about what was going on, it could potentially be considered fraud.

;D ;D ;D ;D
I'm not a lawyer, but I wish I was. Warrantygold AKA WarrantyLEAD KNEW as far back as 08/21/2003 that they were not going to be able to service contracts purchased before the required date. I base this on the fact that they withdrew from the BBB on 08/21/2003.

Warrantygold is FALSE ADVERTISING - they have testimonials going back to 1998 TOUTING HOW GREAT THOU ART! I bet if you asked those testimonials now, they might disagree with the level of service they are giving - this is CRIMINAL FALSE ADVERTISING AND IS FRADULANT!! ! They are worse than SAADAM H - they should be made to go and live in a hole! I WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO INSURE THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT GO TO JAIL FOR THIS. BE SURE AND TELL ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS, EMAIL PEOPLE, ETC. THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THEY PURCHASE A "NEW" WARRANTY FROM WARRANTY GOLD.

Why doesn't everyone FLOOD the warrantygold email system telling them how they s*u*c*k and also go to the testimonial http://www.warrantygold.com/lycos/feedback.asp and give them some real testimony.

ATTORNEY FOR WARRANTY GOLD, LTD.

Lets see since I'm in PA I have to buy a ticket and go to Texas to fight them. THANK GOD I paid for my warranty via my American Express Card. I did pay $500 cash. AX is fighting it out with them. I'm supposed to get a credit in Jan from AX.

And the thing that amazes me that Warranty Gold still was taking money from me for a service they can't provide AND they still are selling warranties.

This was my first warranty NOT from a dealer and I got $crewed.

Hey think we could get all the TX members to represent us to go to court?

Doogie

When i got my first av.02 z71 the dealer sold me warrenty gold. he kept flashing the GM plan in front of us, I didnt find out for weekss after that it was the warrenty gold, i was pisssed and called them on it. they ended up giving me GM plan for the same price as warrenty gold. I always thought if these other companys got themselfs in trouble, the money paid out could be lost. and ive found that working with the GM plan has always been more convient than fighting the aftermarket companys.
