My '03 Z66, that is, and so far here's what I've found.

Braking/handling/smoothness of operation all get an A+++ :B: It also gets the A+++ in the looks department. Love the interior. The Bose setup is great, too. Filled the tank for the first time today and got 16MPG. Better than I was getting with my Tahoe by a half MPG. I guess you could say that so far, it's the best damn truck/SUV I've ever owned. :love:

Now....that said, it's not totally perfect as it comes from the dealer. I liked the preset tones (rock, jazz, news, talk, c/w) that was in my Tahoe, but the Bose setup only allows either Custom or talk. Meaning you have to readjust for everything you play. :p

The floormats are sharp looking.........BUT they don't keep much dirt off the floor cuz they're a bit smallish (cured today by the addition of a set of Husky liners) ;

Washed it today for the first time, and decided that it wasn't just a job, it was a career!!! There's no way you can stop water from running out of the nooks and crannies after you've dried the whole thing off :rolleyes: . Luckily I have one of those wash thingies on a long handle or I'd have had to get a ladder out to do the roof. And, the only way to get at the rear window to dry it that I can see is to either crawl up on the bed covers or get inside and pull the window out for drying.

Am I crabbing? Not a bit. All this is minor at best. I've finally got a vehicle that can do it all :B:

yeah these are great trucks I have had mine almost 2 years (June 21,2001) and I have 44,550 miles on it and have had very few problems and the ones I have had were minor

JDW,

I know just how you feel about water running out of all the cracks and grooves. It's especially tiresome when you are waxing or applying some other polish.
I have a small air compressor and finally just started using it to get rid of all the water before drying it off.
Aside form a quick trip around the block, this is the best way to dry it once and only once.

CONGTAS on your new AV!!!

Later. :B:

Gentlemen;

The solution to the running/dripping water after an Av wash is already in your garage: your trusty leaf blower. Maybe the neighbors will think you're taking a qualifying pass at the funny farm, but for practical reasons this works very well. That nonsense that hides under the grille opening, the stream that pours out from the storage compartments and topside drain areas, and all those tailgate "drippies" have met their match. My Sears electric elimanites them and helps dry the truck quite easily. Give it a try.......... ;D

Hey jdw174,

Congrats on your new AV. I envy you!! Would not mind re living the day I first picked my 02 Indigo AV. Felt like the king of the world. After 94 posts I think you already know that CAFC is the perfect resource for AV owners. If I thought of it or if anyone has done or even considered it, its in a post on the CAFC site.

I have had a few very minor things happen to my AV, but overall this truck is awesome. Had it since May and I still get people checking it out - yes even Ford and Dodge truck drivers drive by slowly and look at it. That is not why I bought the thing - I thought I was buying a big kids (almost 40) toys.

ENJOY!!!

I too occassionally use the leaf blower . . . I do get some looks at times HeHe . . .but hey it works.

Of course it takes a lot of time to clean the AV . . . but it is all worth it in the end right ? ? ?

Hey Jdw......the best way I've found to dry off the back window is to stand on top of the rear wheel, grab onto the sail panels with one hand, and dry with the other.

I second and third the
LEAF BLOWER
In fact when I bought my new shop vac at Sears I got a Craftsman that switches to a leaf blower. Serves double duty, vacuums out the AV and blows it close to dry. Especially with a good coat of wax and Son-Of-A-Gun on the Cladding.

I have owned mine for four days now, and I just washed it yesterday for the first time. :) I agree, it is definitely going to be a chore keeping it clean. :eek: In another month or so, the real fun begins with the monthly Zaino applications!

I just remove the rear window and then dry it off. ?It's a lot more easier.
yes that is very true that is the only thing I don't like about the Avalanche is when you take it to a car wash they don't dry the rear window so I have to remember to bring my own towl to take it out and dry it

I've had mine about 18 days and just turned over 1k miles. Over 500 was on the first weekend. Our weather has been so crappy I've only washed it twice and both were at the self spray car wash. Next week Wife, Daughter and Granddaughter are taking it to Colo. Another 2k+ miles. :)
