I havent seen this topic in any search. I recently noticed that I began getting a musty smell in my AV. I checked the midgate carpet and all dry. One day I was picking up something I dropped on the drivers carpet and noticed the carpet was wet under the mat. We hadnt had rain here for several weeks. The next couple of days I left my truck out in the sun with the windows down and the mat out. It dried out. Now I washed it last night and it rained today and the carpet is wet again! Any suggestions? I will check the drain tube from the front left corner of the sun roof. Anyone know if there is a condensation line for the A/C anywhere on the left of the firewall? I know there is one on the right side. It drains freely. The passenger front carpet is dry.

I had the same problem. I found that the wire loom that feeds thru the firewall was improperly sealed and the rain was landing on the wires and having the capillary effect into my floor. I used some silicone and fixed it up. Check your e-brake area under the dash next time it rains, thats where my water was comin' in.

GM had a tech sheet on this issue. Look in the front of the left rear wheel opening and you will see a seam that didn't get any seamsealer at the factory. My first AV was the first one we got at the dealership and I too had this problem with wet carpet. It only happened to AV's that were made up to July '01 if I remember correctly.

Take it to your dealer so they can fix the problem.

this is what i was thinking. i remember this being talked about in some ealier posts. also if you find the thread where the bumper diamond plate is being sold there is some plug they sell that goes in the wheel well that may remedy the problem as well. hope this helps. :B:

I think the plug was for the front wheel opening, but I might be wrong. I do remember looking at the picture of the plug.

I'm another So Cal resident with wet feet!
I saw water from the midgate area so assumed it was just too much water on the top of the bed cover all through the night and piling up against the cab thanks to the down hill slope our trucks have.
I checked the front of my rear wheel wells and the seems all look sealed so I'll have to check the other areas mentioned during our next monsoon.

my carpet is soaked too .....went to the dealer today,  they want me to take it take it back on monday for a complete drying out and repair of the leak ... it was nice and warm today so i left the windows open and tried to dry it out. it dried nice on the surface but the padding is soaking

im not so shure how good of a job they are going to do. the smell is bad .......has any one got a new carpet kit out of this
