What are the Quietest Performance Exhausts?

I know, this is somewhat of an oxymoron, but what are the quietest exhausts that free up some of the restriction imposed by the stock exhaust?

The shop that installed my Gibson single swept-side is willing to take it off and try something else. The resonance is horrible and certainly CAN be heard in the cabin (contrary to what Adam at Gibson told me), but the shop has relatively few ideas as to what would be a better substitute.

Can you exhaust experts please tell me what are the top three performance systems as far as (1) quiet (2) little to no resonance?

I'd like to know the same question.

Funguy go with Corsa you will not be sorry....if you really want CUSTOM CUSTOM piping with muffler setup to your tastes...if your near LI NY go to Kooks Headers. They will hook it up, but its not cheap.

Which Corsa? And do you have personal experience with what you are recommending?

Thanks.

Magnaflow cat back part #15724 all SS with a polished 4" SS tip (y) great sound no interior resonance and a lot less than a Corsa (no offense to the Corsa owners as I use to have 1)

STOCK........

I am in for the Corsa, I have the Sport edition, they also make a Touring edition (Less aggressive)

Stainless Steel with dual out the side (1 Side) polished Stainless Steel Tips.

In a word, Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Having a hard time keeping my foot out of it, I love the growl!!

I guess you missed the topic, I am not interested in a 'growl,' or any other noise for that matter.

But thanks for sharing anyway.

Umm, I know, except they chopped up the stock exhaust when they removed it. This, after I told them to save it since I wanted to be sure the new exhaust was okay before scrapping the old one.

Everybody screwed the pooch on this one. Gibson said whatever they needed to make a sale (even if it wasn't the truth), and the shop was out to lunch when I gave them very explicit directions on the install.

At least the shop is going to take care of me. They want to try one more system, and if that doesn't work, they are going to pay for a completely custom exhaust.

Why don't you try a dual setup with two stock mufflers? I'll sell you mine and I'm sure you can easily find another one from someone on here. I had mine cut out with only 1400 miles on it.

That's an interesting option that I'll consider and pass on to the shop if we do a custom setup. Thanks.

So you need/want a stock exhaust for a replacement? ???

I have one for sale :0: from an 2003

Make me a offer....

I read the topic, and posted the info on the Corsa "TOURING" as it is a "quiet performance option".

Isn't it what you asked for?

You must have misunderstood your question.

Sorry for trying to help,

Sorry, I must have misread your post. I thought you were trying to sell me on the Corsa Growl, when this is what I am trying to get rid of. My apologies.

I will look into the Touring system. Thanks for trying to help, really!

You could go the route I did, I also have searched for a QUIET exhaust that would free up a few ponies. I put a muffler and tailpipe off of a Silverado SS on my truck. It has a nice tone to it and HAS NO INTERIOR RESONANCE AT ALL. It has to be fabbed in though, the muffler is a dual inlet. The muffler guys I use did a nice job installing it. They took the entire exhaust off and cut the factory flange off the head pipe (pipe in front of the muffler). First they installed the SS muffler and tailpipe, and lined it up. Then they cut off the two inlet pipes that were on the SS muffler leaving about a foot of pipe and welded in a Magnaflow Y pipe. Then they bent a 3" pipe, welded the factory flange to it and Magnaflow Y pipe, and bolted it up the the factory Y pipe (pipe just after the cats). It's perfect for me, a nice tone and it did help performance some. I got the exhaust from a member on the Silverado SS forum for pretty cheap but had to pay for shipping which wasn't so cheap, total was $90. The install cost another $150, so for $240 I got what I wanted. It should also fit an Avalanche because before the SS set up, I was using a stock Avalanche muffler and tailpipe on my truck.

This is just a suggestion but dual Street Performance FM 30 series mufflers crossfeed at the cat junction and resonators installed in front of the mufflers will do the trick. This is a big installation as the mufflers are the size of the FM 70. A heat sheild on top of one is needed and the mufflers staggarded so they will fit and look nice. This is not a cheap installation, but really sounds very nice and does give a little grunt back to you. You will need hangers installed as well so please be sure you have trust in the installation shop that would do it should you want to go that way. Three inch SS tips add a nice mellow mega-phone sound to the exhaust. Pipe size will be 2 1/2 inch. Let us know what you decide.

I have the Gibson dual side outlet cat back and it's too quiet for me. I can't hear anything from inside even at WOT except for the K&N intake. I can hear it from the outside only when it first starts up, after that it sounds stock to me. I am replacing mine with a Flowmaster. That's what I have on my other truck and it sounds means as he!!.

I can't hear anything at WOT except my blower... >:D >:D >:D but that's okay with me. It's the steady drone at 70 mph that drives me nuts. I want Bach and Beethoven without the added bass and tenor notes my Gibson produces...

i was thinking the samething.

I thought this was an impossibility until Adam at Gibson guaranteed me that I would not be able to hear their exhaust inside my truck. Why they did that, I'll never know.

Gibson, is known for the Gibson sound.

And as for being restrictive I think Gibson isn't the best for a blower, as they make their power gains by increasing the back pressure.

You don't want the interior noise? I have an FM 70 that is quiet in the cab, no resonance, and a Radix just like you do.

I'm going to be putting on a Magnaflow SS soon, and I'll let you know how it goes.

I know you don't realy want to just go back to stock exhaust, but here's a thought...
The owner of a good exhaust shop that I bought some electrical trailering stuff from, in my area, mentioned that he had about 20 stock Avalanche exhausts out back if anyone wanted them. Seems he has replaced the stock with a custom setup on a large number of Avalanches for a local dealer 'he sells a lot more trucks when he does that' he said.
So you might have your shop call around their 'competitors' to see if any have any whole, or rescue-able stock Avalanche systems 'just lying around'....
HTH.
You probably don't want them shipped from Tennessee...?

Why are you getting rid of the Flowmaster?
