My Sunset-O is seriously being deprived of her dose of great foreign scenery and awesome drives. SouthBay CA, supplies us w/ stop&go-bumper2bumper traffic, not prime running grounds for a great vehicle like this. I am finally breakin' her loose to Las Vegas this weekend, so the AV can run and finally get her juices flowin'. (y)

What cities and/or states has your AValanche journeyed through? Any awesome 'breath-taking' drives that you can tell a couped-up Av and his owner about? ?:)

sponger :B:

1. Dallas to El Paso, TX round trip
2. Dallas to Austin, TX round trip
3. Dallas to Tyler, TX round trip
4. Dallas to Cloudcroft & Ruidoso, NM round trip

That all for now. In the future.
1. Dallas to San Antonio
2. Dallas to Houston

And several more to El Paso and Ruidoso & Cloudcroft, NM

So far, we've taken our Av to every state in the Southwest (Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Northern Texas, Arizona and all over Southern California).

On road in So Cal, some of the best scenery we've seen include the mountains east of San Diego, the deserts way east of San Diego and Los Angeles, and of course the coast. Off road, not much beats the desert, especially this time of year (much cooler).

Outside of So Cal, there are tons of cool areas. We like old Route 66, Zion in Utah, Mesa Verde and Rocky Mountain National Parks in Colorado, White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. In Arizona, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, The Crater, and of course the Grand Canyon are sweet.

Because these are just a few of the great areas to check out, I'm sure other members will have suggestions in these (and the other) states. We have a great country out there. :D

sponger, now here you are, as a av club newbie, and what do you do???
have a dayaamn good post idea!

my av . got change, is based in fort lauderdale florida, and has been to key west , up thru the keys, all over eastern florida, on up thru georgia, south and north carolina, and in to tennessee.

23000 + miles in a little over 12 months av miles, good miles, amber drl miles, rear window out miles, towing miles, backroad miles, and back again, AV MILES.

A few months ago, a week or two before a trip, I would go over to the av cruises, and meets section, of the av club, and post a few hellos, to avrs, in the areas, i was driving thru.

I would give the approxamite, times and dates, I was rolling thru, and arrange an av , "roadside" meet. the coolest thing started to happen, the av brothers, would give a cell phone #, we would coordinate, the schedule, and to see another av, somebody I never saw before, but shared a post or two, here at the club was really fun.

So if you are heading out somewhere, let another av know when and where, to make the trip more fun!!!
When you and another av pull up together meet up, and you climb out of the av and say hello, its like meeting up with an old high school buddy, or a nieghbor you lived next to for years, and the instant friendship, can be attributed to the club, and of course kinda liking the av, just a little bit.....ya know!!

man i got so carried away, that I always have a couple of my mod ideas with me, and have brought my makita drill, and popped in a mod or two to another avr, within minutes of meeting up with them!

I'm gonna give you a week or two notice, if I,m ever rolling out your way, and watch out, for those"roadsides" each guy is showing off their av and just having the av fun of it.

thanks for this post ..av bro...got change.....see ya

Mainly in the So Cal area.

I also take it out to Glamis, Pismo Beach, and the derset, It been to Arizona and Nevada. All I can say is the Avalanche rides smooth!

Well I think mine couldn't speek spanish so it hoped a train to the west coast someware. Roled into some dark and wet ships bowels. Saw daylight in Sea-Tacoma port. Again it hid in some ships dark belly. Riped from its hide-e-hole she was stuffed on a car hauller. Now in Wasill Ak it told a car salesman to call me.

Hey ZimmsAv, Thanks for the info. Some friends and I are headed to Carlsbad to do some caving, then we're headed south to hike Guadalupe peak in the National Park. Good way to spend a four day weekend.

Other than all over Minnesota where the beast lives, this summer it stretched it's legs through Wisconsin, Illionois and Indianna and back as we headed to Indy for the Brickyard 400. The Beast will get an even better chance at increasing my averge MPH this Christmas when we traverse from Minneapolis/St Paul, MN to Temple, TX. About 1152 miles each way and 17 hours straight through.

Welcome to the neighborhood sponger . . .

My Av's had 10,000 miles of wandering in 10 months, covering Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, and Wyoming. It's come to know the route from my homebase in Greeley, CO to Lincoln, NE very well - several visits back to see family this year.

NJ (home state)
NY
PA (purchase state)
DE
MD

owned the Av 8 months and have only 8,000 miles so far

if I go to the annual family Thanksgiving get together, I will add CT and MA to the list

I'v had my 02 AV a year in October and put 25000 miles on it. Made many trips out to the camp grounds with my Jayco Kiwi trailin behind but this past Aug we packed up the two teenagers and drove down to Ft Lauderdale Fla. Land of the Beemers, Hummers and big RVs.
We fit in quite well and had a great trip to boot.
18+ mpg on the highway and plenty of room for our luggage and the kids in back. My 17 yr old is 6'-1" and he had plenty of room.

5241 miles and only been to Ohio and Pa,
BUT. Plan on being all over this coming summer!

I won't attempt to try & remember cities, so here goes.

NY,NJ,CT,VT,MA,NH,PA,MD,DE,VA,NC,SC,GA,FL

Hopefully one trip I can get off the East Coast. ;)

Add Canada in there also.

..."WoW" ?:D

You ALL are taking full advantage of what this Truck/SUV has to offer and also what our beautiful country supplies. ?(y)

We definetly will be enjoying the long missions, "I can't wait". As of today, I have locked in the following future runs:

November: Las Vegas - (to drop-off my monthly payments to the casinos :p)
December: San Francisco - (SF 49'ers vs GB Packers - Go PACK!)
January: Mammoth Mountain - (let it snow!)

And all in the luxurious cockpit of the AV...

2. Atlanta to Morgantown, WV (Had to see a college football game)
3. Atlanta to Lexington, KY
4. Future Trip Atlanta to Pitssburgh at Thanksgiving

Can you tell I would rather drive my Av then Fly!

Based in Pewaukee, WI (15min west of Milwaukee) my AV has been to:
Wisconsin Dells, WI
Joliet, IL (Chicagoland Speedway)
Indianapolis, IN (Brickyard 400)
Addison, IL (1st Great Lakes Chapter meet)
And is scheduled to go to Charlotte, NC next spring for "The Winston" and the Coca Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. I can't wait for this trip.

Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and California so far. I should have added British Columbia, Alberta, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Nevada this past summer but some home projects superceded most of my road trip vacation.

Sorry if this gets a little long but so far the AV has been to the following states between Denver and Erie, PA:

On I-70:
Kansas
Missouri
Illinois
Indiana
Ohio
Pennsylvania

On I90, I80/90, I80, and I76 (what an ugly stretch I76 is ?>:D ) the states I haven't mentioned:
Iowa
Nebraska

Major Cities include: Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Columbus, Cleveland, Erie, Toledo, Chicago, Des Moines, and Omaha

The AV covered a lot of ground (3000+ miles) on that trip ?;D!

In PA, the AV got to play in 3 feet of snow ?>:D! ?It was during that snow storm where Buffalo got 7 feet.
