While at the dealership for 15,000 mile service($239), I had a chance to check out a few of the 2003 Z66 and Z71s there. I like the Summit White with the new cladding, but my favorite has to be the Charcoal Metalic. The darker paint almost matches the cladding.

Also liked the new steering wheel and upgrades to the A/C and Stereo.

I have a 2002 Av with Resale Red for the color and I like the light cladding with it better than the new darker color. However, the darker cladding looks killer on black. Saw one last week on the road - very tough looking!

Hey Lutz - Keep the cladding ditch the wife!

I have to agree with the darker cladding on the 03 black Av's - It looks great. I really like the yellow with it too.
But I wouldn't trade in for an 03... I've got my baby just how I like it now ;D

I guess I'm the odd man out here. I like which ever color has the greatest contrast to the color of the vehicle, so the cladding really stands out.

That is, light cladding on dark colors, and dark cladding on light colors.

Just as long as the cladding stays, I don't really care what happens. I do like the lighter cladding slightly more so I voted for that.

I like 'em both - I tend to like the cladding close in color to the paint, hence my '02 light cladding with my LPM paint is great. If I were to buy an '03, it would probably be the charcoal paint which I think looks great with the dark cladding.

I think the light cladding may have one advantage - it will be a bit cooler in the summer than the dark cladding, and given that heat and plastic aren't a good combination, the light cladding may look better with less maintenance some years down the road.

You bring up a good point wrchism about the darker cladding (y).

I don't know if it's just me but it seems like, depending on the light, sometimes pewter almost color matches the cladding. Is that why you got a pewter AV?

The color of the AV has alot to do with which of the two claddings looks better. The darker cladding does look good on the black and grey. It also make the red look more orange.

The big thing that I noticed about the darker cladding was how much more dirt and scratches it showed. Not a problem for those of you driving black AV's.

I did wait untill the darker cladding came out before I bought my AV. I parked the red 02 and 03 side by side and compared them. I drove them both extensively and played with all of the options. For me the choice was an easy one. The the 0% for 5 years plus my satisfaction with the way the 02 was optioned closed the deal.

That and the fact that I would prefere an after market audio system to the Bose, I like the bow tie seats and the articulating headrests, at 6'4" the moving pedals were usless to me. Additionally the trip computer has been evaluated, in this forum, as of questionable accuracy and I had little use for the blinking, fliping folding mirrows.

Plus the 02 is " the original". Those of you driving the 02, and me, have alot to be proud of.

There was one choice not listed here that I would've picked. Either as long as it's cladded. I had to pick the '02 simply because I like My Indigo blue with the lighter cladding much better than the Arrival blue with the darker cladding. Maybe I just need to get used to the new blue, (I'm honestly not bias) but to me it looks too bright on such a big truck, almost cartoonish to me. No offence to all you Arrival blue owners out there! I know you love your color! I do like the darker cladding better on black, white, SOM, Pewter however, and I'm sure the yellow is going to be awsome! I like the red better with the lighter cladding though. Just my .02 ?:B:

I have a light pewter metalic Av and I think the light color cladding goes perfectly with this color. I like the darker cladding with the black and grey colors. Without cladding looks like an old truck my shop teacher created 30 years ago. I didn't like it then either.

I like the darker cladding a bit better, but it is entirely dependant on the paint color. The dollar loss I would take on depreciation is way more than I am willing to consider for the few changes in the '03's that I envy.

The contrast between the cladding and the paint color is one thing that really attracted me to the AV. I think the lighter color is best. However, the dark cladding on a white AV looks sharp.

We have had a GRAY METALLIC AV for 10 days now. The very first one to come off the truck in Savannah Ga. As they say in the South " We are in Hog Heaven!!" ;D  (y) ;D ;D

if i could do it all over again i would have opted for the darker cladded '03 in the dark grey color. i forget the correct color name. is it charcoal grey?
i even thought about purchasing the darker cladding. but, i talked myself out of it. besides, i got the first and the last of the Indigo/Light cladded/Blue. i'm happy. ;D

i love the darker cladding, probably cause i ordered black.it looks less sporty more luxury while at the same time it is a truck. when the dealer told me the cladding was darker then i was pushed over the edge.

FWIW.. I must say I am a fan of the darker cladding, but my ultimate preference would be for painted or coloured cladding that matched the paint colour. The escalade EXT looks good in that respect.

It all depends on the truck color, but I agree that it must have cladding or it looks like a Silverado. ?Not that Silverados are bad, driving my brother's is what convinced me to check out the AV.
The charcoal metalic AV looks great with the darker cladding. ?But for now I will keep my black '02.

If Chevy made color matched cladding I would think about getting another set, so I could change it with my mood. ;)

If I was going to purchase an Av now...my choice for color combo...would be the charcoal color with the darker cladding.....or even the summit white with the 03 cladding....I'm currently very content with my summit white 02'..... :B:

I looked at a lot of Avalanche's, but when I spotted the Dark Grey Mettalic with the dark cladding, it was all over! I think the virtual monochromatic appearance is way cool. As a result, I must vote for the dark cladding. BTW, an Avalanche without cladding (I have seen the pics) is NOT an Avalanche (at least in my opinion ;) .
