I've been thinking about getting the tailgate letters and mountain decals.
But, I can't decide what color.

I have Victory Red w/ Texas Z71 decals. I was thinking maybe Royalish Blue.

I'm open for opinions.

Plus, I thought this would be a good thread to help others via pics for ideas.

This is TN AV03's...it was snowing, so sorry about the pic...

It looked great !

I have a 2003 with the darker cladding and Dark Gray Metallic paint. I suppose that I could just about go with any color, staying with the metallic. Was looking at the dark teal metallic.

What colors have others used on their gray or black AVs?

I have an 02 Black Av and went with the gold metallic mountain decals, bright red "Z" and white "71" as evidenced in this pitcure: gold on black. Plus, I have the mountain graphics on the C-pillar and the cladded letters hand-painted gold metallic as well: c-pillar and cladding.

Jamie-

Thanks for the reply and pics.

At the Cape GTG this past Sunday a few of the members were applying their AV decals to the pillar, which I thought looked really good. Unfortunately, the NFE has a North Face medallion at that location. It also is bare of decals in the rear quarters; while it does include the Z71 package it does not have the Z71 decals.

I have a 2003 dk green avy, what colors to u think would look on the mountain logo. I was thinking of a two color charcoal and silver.

Don't think this is a biased recommendation, but gold trim and accents look great on forest green/dark green cars and trucks. Just like gold looks good on white and black. Silver tends to look good on red, blue, orange and yellow.

Someone had posted a color matching chart showing what colors compliment each other, but I'm not sure where that is...

How about white you guys. I have dark blue and almost purple pinstriping.
Maybe a 2 color would be better for me. Any ideas???

FSUGUY, I think the blue would look pretty cool, I have seen an Avey with Blue body and Red Mods, but never reverse. I was thinking maybe black, depends on what your tastes are. Anyways, what do you plan on doing exactly? I was actually thinking about doing the 3M Reflective Tape Mod, in Black, I thought that might look tight. I'm still investigating, before I put it on.

AVEY! Got to love them!

I'm thinking about C-pillar decals and maybe paint my grill area. or maybe some stripes. I don't want to do too much. just a good contrast. I've used red reflective tape inside my doors and on my wheel bowties.

The exact opposite color of red is "cyan". It's a blue green. If you put on blue green glasses your red Av would look black. Blue green will be the color with the most contrast to red.
R

Y M

G B

C

R=red, M=magenta (redish purple) B=blue, C=cyan, G=green, y=yellow.

Opposite colors are on opposite sides of the above circle. Opposite colors provide the greatest contrast although they may not be the most visually pleasing combinations. An easy way to remember the colors is Red Car-BY-General Motors.. RC, BY, GM are pairs of opposites.

An opposite version similar to R O Y G B I V.

Thanks for the info.

Victory red? Go for yellow for contrast. Yellow cladding letters, pin striping, etc. Red - yellow - black makes a standout combination.

I think so too and have been considering this as well. ?I wish the color-shift paint came in Green/Gold. ?i would be using A LOT of that. ?I haven't seen it in the Dupli-color, any body seen it elsewhere?

Food for thought: I myself have not done anything like this with my own Av, yet . However, the following link shows a quickie photoshop idea my son did awhile back: Fire Av

You get the idea. :0:

Years ago, some of the finest design and color work done in large scale was produced by the styling department of Electro-Motive Division, GM, the locomotive builder. Kansas City Southern railroad used a variety of red-yellow-black paint schemes, one of which is shown in this unfortunately not-too-sharp photo: KCS freight unit. Anyway, you get the idea here.
