What did you do to your Avalanche today?

Anyone add running boards or step up's to their Avy? My short self can literally slide off the seats with a foot on the ground.the seam is split and don't want to rip it more as no one carries cloth seat covers for Snowball's 40/20/40 front bench.

@-JRW- easiest way to get the bumper cover off.
Remove parking lights & headlights
Remove grille

this will give you the space you need to release the 7 (I think) tabs along the top edge of the cover…kinda look like fingers. Use a 7mm socket for the screws in the wheel wells.

Much easier to pull the cover when the front looks like this. Just be careful of the tabs along the middle and bottom of the grille, but the grille pops off pretty quickly.

This is a decent video of how it’s done.

One thing he does in the video is install the fog lights before putting the new bumper in…this is a very good tip.
Is this front tow hitch specifically made for the front ?

@LFX1 the Curt 31302 is a front mount receiver.

Yesterday, Snowball took us on a 200 miles round-trip in very Heavy Rain to honour & remember someone special. It was well worth the shower! Snowball seemed to have a little bit of a shifting issue... either my foot to the floor with w/1000 - 2000 rpms, or light medium and shifts to 4000- 5000 rpm. Had to let of gas then gently re apply. It was up & down a mild canyon, still. Pretty sure it's the tranny.

We like camping with larger and more secluded sites where these campgrounds (typically State Forest campgrounds) have no electric hookup. We rely on the solar panel to keep the trailer battery charged. Often there are so many trees or clouds which really reduce the charging and it doesn't keep up with even very conservative battery usage.

Since the trailer battery box would accommodate a larger battery than was supplied, I bought another deep cycle in a larger size to fit the box. The reserve capacity is 40% more than the original. I was just going to put the 3 yr old original battery in the bed of the truck when we went camping to swap out if needed.

Then I remembered that spare battery tray in the truck. Perfect fit for this spare battery and it would be smarter having it secured up front than sitting in the bed. This also keeps an additional 40 lbs out of an already heavy bed and moves that weight up front.
Got an OEM style clamp off Amazon since the hole for this clamp was in the tray with a captive nut underneath and ready to go.

This is not as exciting as a dual battery setup but actually something I need and can use.

tried to put gas in the other day and all the gas that came out of the nozzle went on the pavement under the truck. the top of the fuel filler neck rusted away from the rubber section. Got a new ( to me ) filler neck from the local "you-pull-lot" $10 got me a very good condition fuel filler neck, from the cup at the rear fender all the way to the tank.

spent too long fighting the secondary latch while trying to drop the spare tire. finally decided to just work around it and deal with the annoyance. I should really figure that dumb thing out.

Replaced both transmission cooling lines. Trans to rad and return. They were both leaking at the rubber hose fitting.
Quite a difficult job in the driveway on car ramps.
Had to remove the crossmember and lower the end of the front diff for some wiggle room.
3 hours of cursing and trying to twist 6 ft of bent, hard lines over the diff and then clipped back on the trans. I could barely get a hand up there, or see what I was doing.
They didn't look so new when I was done but managed not to kink the hard lines.
Next time I will do it the easy way and get someone else to do it.
The crossmember was full of sand and gravel soaked in oil.
Happy I can cross that repair off a long list.
