I just bought my new AV last Sunday. When I picked it up the dealer had something that made the tires really shine like crazy.

I washed it the next day, put some armor all on them. A day or two later shine was gone.

I bought McGuire's tire shine. Sprayed that on there a day or two ago. Still lost it's shine.

Any suggestions?

Welcome and congrats!!

I used to use the clean and shine all in one products and found them all about the same ... they clean pretty well and shine until the first rain. I recently tried Dupont's Teflon Tire Shine which is strickly a conditioner and not a cleaner. The tires are to be clean and dry before applying. This is, by far, the longest and best tire shine product I have used.

I like using Zaino Z-16 product for tires. I find it last a long time and is a bit better then 303 which is also a good product. I normally use the 303 product for most washes and the Zaino product for special meetings/GTG.

Good luck.

Stoners, the same company that makes "Trim Shine" also makes a Tire shine and a great window cleaner....

I like it 'cause it doesn't throw goo all over the side of the truck

I use Turtle wax Wet & Black. It sprayes well usually takes 2 coats but lasts for a while. It contains UV inhibitors so it should prevent the rubber from dry rotting. I also use this product on all of the plastic and the bed covers. Again the UV inhibitor should prevent the pannels from graying out on me. It's not very old so I will watch and see. It's good stuff.

That's what I use too. Here's a hint, buy it online to save. The local NAPA wants over $4.00 a can, I got a case of 12 for $35.00 right from Stoner's web site, with free shipping (y)

Nothing lasts for very long if the tires get wet from rain or washing....

Also depends on what look you want....

check these two threads for products which can be used on tires....

I second this. However, I'm getting to where I prefer the look of a clean, non-dressed tire, particularly if I'm going to be on a jobsite, beach, or otherwise off-road. Dirt clung to tire dressing looks kinda silly IMHO :2:

RICH try the 303 type products........Gives natural brand new tire shine...and not real oily so not too bad at attracting dirt.....dirt rinses off easier....

Does not last as long as the oil type products like stoners etc.....but might be what you are after

I use a product called Black Magic. It is wonderful. Just spray it directly on the tire and it will last for a couple weeks....and it smells nice (y)

Some of these product that spray on I hate to use because if you dont have sufficient drying time the will sling all over the AV. I use Turtle Wax tire wax. It last a long time and you can drive as soon as you want to.

the sticky wet stuff attracts dust and sling everywhere. i use armorall detailers choice (foam cleaner/shine/protectant) or meguires hot shine (more pricey but lasts longer)

Actually I have used 303 on the tires and I do really like the look (exactly as you describe). What I don't like is the price :(

I use Eagle One Tire Shine along with a sponge applicator. The applicator helps to evenly apply the Eagle One. It does not leave a sticky feel or attract dirt as much as if you were just to spray it on in splotches.

NO.....Just my local wally world stopped carrying it.....I see it at pep boys all the time.......

When I don't have my favorite stuff around I just use my NXT protectant on them, but....... Meguiars make a purple GEL that you can apply to your tires using their special aplicator... probobly the same type of stuff as the conditioner earlier mentioned, but this stuff will keep them clean and looking wet for up to 2 weeks. I love it. Water will continue to bead off the tires for a full 2 weeks if not 3, but the shine has never lasted 3 weeks. Love this stuff.
