I was looking around the SoCal site and I was looking in members rides and I came across this pic and Iwas wondering if any one knew the story behind this pic. The SoCAL user name is Lust4speed and he now has a lift but that pic is one amazing pic so here it is.

Here's what he told me when he sent me the photo:

The photo was taken near Calico in the California desert. He was making his way up to explore an old mine... and got high centered - all four wheels off the ground... Yikes
But I'll let him fill in the details... ;)

So if he was off roading, does that mean that he came up out of where there is the apparent dropoff behind his Av ? The dropoff looks quite steep! That is an amazing picture - I hope that no damage was done to his Av.

Nope. He said he managed to get away without any damage to his AV.
I'm gonna have to tell him about this thread so he can tell the full story...

And boy it does look steep doesn't it?

Oh, the embarassment!!! And yes, I had a whole bunch of things to say to my spotter that waved me over the hill. My buddy had walked the hill prior to my climbing it and gave his okay. I think possibly I need to get him a pair of glasses. The hill was very steep and then made a sharp right at the top. We had just enough speed to really get us stuck. Rear wheels were about six inches off the ground. The lucky thing was that we were going slow enough that we just sort of slid along the frame rails until the AV was perfectly balanced. Even with the tow strap, it wasn't the easiest thing to get unstuck. Note that we still had paper plates - possibly we were exceeding the recommended break in proceedure? This little fiasco moved up the installation of the lift kit and tires to the next day after the trip. No damage - we just removed some undercoating on the frame rails.

Well, that's good to hear there was no damage and thanks for sharing your story - it's certainly an interesting one. If you had a shorter wheelbase, you would have made it all the way over.

HSDS  I think your right about the recommended break in procedure... I don't think they envisaged owners doing those types of things during the "go easy" period.

That looks like what I did this week. I tried to park my Av on a snow bank and it didn't work to well. Opps. I have to push it off the snow back to free it. i felt really stupid.

Lust4speed don't feel bad I got my Av stuck on a snow bank. Atleast you where not doing something stupid like I was. It took lots of work to get my Av down from there. :-X
