This is my first post. I was exstatic finding this web site! I just got my first Av about 2 weeks ago. I absolutely love it! For some background info: I'm 24 years old and work in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse. My wife is also a nurse, and we have no kids at this time.
I was wondering what all of you consider the top 3 mods, or "must-have's" for your Av. It doesn't matter if it's cosmetic or performance driven. I've also got a few questions (after reading many posts). 1) Where do I get the mag lite mod? 2) How do I do the Amber DRL's...is this beneficial/looks cool? 3) Do you recommend different fog lights if so, which ones? Thanks for your help.

Amber daytime running lights

Energy Suspension end link bushings

Ford Torsion Bar Keys

Welcome to the fold Kurt.

Ok Amber DRL's is how we apparently recognize each other on the street. Simply go to the Auto parts store, I recommend Advance Auto because I work there on weekends, but Pep Boys and AutoZone are acceptable. You want to buy a pair of 3157/4157NA''and install them according to the owners manual. Then check out the threads for full time drls - do a search.

I commend you on your choice of a Viper 791. It's a nice piece, I'm getting one next year.

I like all my mods equally - so I really cant concentrate on any particular one.

Once again Welcome and enjoy your Av!

:B:

First off, Welcome to the club.

Why Amber ??? Because they look so good (y)

I would upgrade your headlights to Silver Stars, You will see a big difference in the way they light the road.

Josh

Kurt:

I lean towards performance so I'd have to say:

1) TOG's
2) Gibson Dual Extreme cat-back
3) HPP3
4) LOF
5) J&J Enterprises stainless grille

Oops, guess I got carried away! You get the picture, though.....most of the folks here like to mod.

MBT

Then comes the K&N

The Taylor Thundervolts

The HTTP III

You can get the mag lite mounts at most Walmarts, K-marts or most hardware stores. Many people have had luck (including myself) finding them at Ace Hardware if you cannot find them anywhere else.

Other recommended mods - Amber DRL's, 885 fogs (50 watt), and a bugshield with the windshield tape (many many bugs where I live).

Some people have said that the 885 fogs have melted their fog light housings but I have never had the problem but I never have them on unless I an moving, would not recommend sitting in one place for a long period of time with them on. 893 fogs are 37 watts so they are bighter than the stock fog bulbs which are 27 watts. Silverstar bulbs are available for the headlights, fogs and DRL's. They do give off a much brighter - whiter light. I am waiting for my stock bulbs to burn out to replace mine.

Have fun modding and welcome to the club!

Next you will need a Bed Slide

Or a Swing 'N Load (depending on what kind of cargo you carry)

And what about some steps? Do you have factory running boards?

Ohh, welcome to the club. Modding is never ending around here!

Butch

Well I would go for a Lift # 1

Super Charger # 2

Stealth Offroad Winch Bumper # 3

in that order or not....

Welcome to the club

Don't let that mod bug bite too hard.....

Welcome to the club , you will find tons of useful information on this sight & the members are always there to help you with any problems or questions you may have . Enjoy your new toy and BEWARE , once you $tart to mod it's hard to $top ;D  :B:

rear facing lights to see behind you at night , there are several variations , you will have to decide which one suits you best. I mounted mine down low by the hitch reciever . Two 55 watt back up lights from auto zone , about $ 25.00 or so if I remember right. it makes all the difference in the world!

Mag light mod for sure ! I have the clips but I usualy keep mine in the seat next to me, it is a whole lot easier to get to when you really need it and it doesn't take up much space.

running boards or assist steps if you haven't installed them yet.

bug gaurds ,be sure to get the right one or you will have to slam the hood to to get it to close ( not good )

Vent visors

billet grille

pin stripes

Dammit man three aint enough what are you doing to us !!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Welcome to the club! (y)

First off any mod is a good mod. ;D

IMO, every AV should take advantage of the Mag-lite Mod. Since you have an 02 it's much easier. :)

After that, it's really up to you and what you want your truck to do.

Some guys lift theirs in order to stick'em in holes. Some guys lower'em. Some just put tons of chrome on 'em.

The real question is what mods is your wife going to allow you to make? (y)

I am cheap, so therefore have cheap mods ;D

1) Ambers
2) Tahoe Decals
3) F$*d Keys or torsion bar crank

All 3 done for less than $150!

as far as bulbs for your lights go i would stay within, or very close to, the wattage of the stock bulb. this way you don't melt wires and housings. a Silver Star 880st is a good replacement for your fogs. 3157na is a good replacement for the DRL's. you also have to get a Chevy bowtie from member Carriles. lastly, a billet grill from Stull.

They are some standard club mods, which are listed above. However, my top 3 mods are;

1. Sportwing Spoiler
2. Escalade Cluster
3. Billet Knobs

I get the most complements about these three mods.

Mod on...

My favorites are:

1) Amber DRL's
2) Line of Fire
3) Flowmaster Exhaust
4) Mac Performance Intake

We have no shortage of ideas on how we should help spend your money >:D Good luck

What is this Headrest mod I'm reading about????

Welcome to the club....

The rear headrest mod is a mod to make it easier to remove the headrest so you do not have to move the front seats all the way forward to fold the midgate....

check in the mods section and then interior mods....XROVER started it....

Big Bob, you put a big smile on my face with that comment!!! I certainly concur, and gave you some positive karma for giving me the big grin.

My 3 favorite mods are 2 for practicality and 1 for looks:

1. EZslide to make loading/unloading under the covers easier.
2. Cargo lights rocker switch. Similar to using the pin switch, but allows for turning off the lights if you are driving with the tailgate down.
3. Custom bowtie from carriles. My winking face bow tie gets a lot of doubletakes and finger pointing.

Good luck with the mods you do. You will have to let us know your favorite mods after you've got about a dozen or so done!!! :)

After looking at my above post, and in Big Bob's spirit, I've got to add an honorable mention. The hi-beam indicator drove me nuts until I filtered it with a piece of blue electrical tape. Now it isn't glaring in my face when I'm driving down a dark road, but it is still very visible.

Just 3? :E:

Hmmm...

1) Custom Exhaust - The sooner that beast can breathe easier..the better.

2) Snake Eyes backup system - Takes the guess work out of backing up your AV and makes you worry less when your wife drives it ;D

3) All the graphics from Streamline design. (Z-71 or applicable decals for the body, visor and pillar AV decals, and a custom bowtie from our good friend Les (CAFCNA name Carrilles). This will personalize your Av and make it stand out from the rest right away.

Don't forget to print some brochures out and pass the word about this great club!!!

WELCOME and congrats on your new AV!!!!

Kurt, The mod takes care of needing to use the release button when removing the rear headrests. When you fold down the rear seat backs you should remove the headrests and lay them on the floor. The little release button for them is much harder to use than it should be so someone came up with a very simple mod. After the mod you just pull the headrests out and do not need to fiddle with that release button. You can read about it HERE! And, yes, I have done it and it is as easy as he says!

Butch (see, the mods never end)!
