Im about to replace my current Avalanche 2500 through the Lemon Law. I recently saw a WBH Z71 in Black with the black flares and it looked AWESOME! So good in fact that its making me rethink my decision to get another 2500 series.

I love the grunt of the 2500, hate the wheels, not crazy about the light grey cladding. The darker cladding is definitely more palatable IMO.

The WBH is sharp, the wheels look great but it doesnt leap off the line like the big block. I also would like the better gas milage.

That is my soon to be dilemma.

I would like to know some of the out the door prices on recent Avalanche purchases. It would be a big help when it comes time to talk numbers with my dealership. How good a deal did you get?

Thanks again in advance!

When I bought my truck I bought it for use, not looks. If you're going to be towing or need that "grunt" for anything I would definitely get back into the 2500. If you are not towing, then go for the small block. From an economic standpoint, the small block will leave you better off.

As for not liking the wheels, well, that is to easy a fix. Much easier than transplanting in a big block when you find you needed it. :p

buy what you like,,,,,,, ;D

:DBuy the clean sided AVA--the cladding I am finding is a darn dirt trap--marks easily and is difficult to clean.

Love the AVA,but will buy the non clad version next time!

I went from a 1500 to a 2500 for the towing power

Big blocks rule>:D

they are both nice trucks. here is what i think about them...
the WBH is nice. can't figure out why they went with the different frontend though. ??? i do not like it as much.
as for the 2500... power!!! also a harsh ride compared to the 1500. more gas.
you have to ask yourself, self, do i really need the towing capacity, ruggedness, and fuel consuming power of the 2500? or would i rather be happy with the capable 1500/5.3L combo and softer ride.
i Z-66 myself. i would tell you to make sure that whichever truck you decide to go with make sure it is a 4x4. i just could not get the guys to work with me on a Z-71. i tried. oh well. maybe you will have better luck than i did.

I am still not sure why everyone has such a hard time cleaning the cladding. I have never had a problem. I went off roading last week, and the cladding saved a lot of damage to the paint. So, I am big fan of the cladding, and personally would never buy a Z71 without it (could see getting a Z66 wbh, but not Z71, doesn't make sense to me). So, in your case, if it were me, I would get a 2500.

Eeeek! Harsh ride?! You're driving a 2WD Av for goodness' sake and you're talking about the 2500 like you know something about it?

Look folks, the simple truth is if you ask someone what they like, what to buy, what to get, which one's best, etc., the vast majority of the time the answer you'll get is whatever that person is driving! How many times do people really say that they made a bad decision and got/drive the wrong vehicle and/or they don't like their vehicle?! :3:

Ask a Yugo driver what car to get and he/she will recommend a Yugo.

Here's my recommendation:

1. Get a Z66, a Z71 and a 2500 so then you'll only have to decide which one to drive that day
2. Get a 2WD WBH because you have 2WD and like the WBH
3. Get a 2500 with the big block because you know you'll miss the power (change the wheels)
4. Make the decision yourself - it's your truck

The 2500 does not have a harsh ride. Compare a Z71 side by side with a 2500 and you will find a comparable if not better ride with the 2500.

We are talking about the Avalanche, not the Silverado. If you were comparing the 1500/2500 HD Silverado, there is no question that the 2500 has a harsher ride.

The additional 1,000 lbs makes the vehicle rock solid and I personally think it has a better ride. As for gas mileage, you have no argument from me. It sucks.
