I am installing my new stereo and speakers this week. I want to install a new Alpine DVD/CD Flip Out Screen. If I replace the factory head unit the local install shop says that all my streering wheel controls will work. I am concerned I will lose my steering wheel controls. He tells me that he has an adapter for the onstar and the steering wheel controls. I need advise from you guys and gals. Am I bette roff keeping the factory head unit from GM with the built in 6 disc changer or change it.

I believe he is right about the adapters being available for steering wheel controls - I know they are for on-star. Hey if he says they will work make him gaurantee it in writing ;)

Are there any adaptors for the 2003s yet? I am thinking of adding a clarion vrx935vd to my 2003 and dont know whether to replace the 6 cd HU or simply piggyback it to the unit.

If you have the IVA-D900 if you look at the back of the headunit there is what appears to a headphone jack, that is the remoteinput. if you use the PAC SWI-X you can cut off the emitter and replace it with a 1/8 plug and plug it into the IVA-D900 and voila steering wheel controls work flawlessly.

As a side note I have the D900 in my av and dash clearance is a Female Dog, make sure your indash is flush with the front of the bezel or the screen will not open to a viewable angle. Also make sure that the screen is set to full MANUAL operation, as the tranmission shift lever is in the way when in park and it will really interfere with the faces operation
