Hello,

I am new the forum here, and am a new owner of a 2003 Chevy Avalanche. I am very good at the wiring diagrams and how-to's for my 2006 Dodge Charger, but this is quite a bit different.

I am trying to find a wiring harness that works for my 2003 Avalanche, that also has inputs for the Bose Audio. Does one even exist? Or do i use a normal one? Any links to which harness i need would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks, and I'm proud to be here! The Avalanche was my dream truck, and my Charger is my dream car!  :p

I'm trying to swap my stock head unit out for my Pioneer appradio 3. I want it to work with my Bose sound system. I guess I've never dealt with a stock amp in a vehicle before. I'm trying to find the right wiring harness! I'm sure there's one for an avalanche with stock speakers and one for Bose sound.

Thanks,
Chris

There are wire harnesses to make different combinations work. Depending on the desired combination it could cost almost $200 for a harness because they also include some additional hardware.

Where's a good place to start? Pretty soon I'm going to just pull the factory radio and chase wires. Do i need the PAC adapter for the Bose to work with the radio?

This harness will give you bose retention, and steering wheel controls

Here is a good price from a reliable source
http://www.amazon.com/Rp5-gm11-Radiopro5-Interface-Select-Vehicles/dp/B00DHUA9VA

Halfway down the page they have the harness, dash kit, and antenna adapter for $125.72

If you go through crutchfield you can get everything you need for $689.97

Im not a fan of axxess interfaces bc the are prone to failure. I prefer pac modules. If you decide to go with a pac module, all you would need would be a dash kit.

In short yes you need a PAC or similar device.

Your radio provides the system chimes and there is no "Ignition" lead to turn your radio on and off. The PAC device allows you to keep the system chime and also gives you an ignition lead. The factory radio uses the databus to talk to the steering wheel controls, the rear entertainment stuff, the amplifier and the vehicle Body control module to do its work but that is also how it knows when the truck is on or off.
