GUEST
1. Remote tailgate lock
2. Matching cladding
3. Heated backs, not just butt
4. On board computer that tells miles to go in tank, etc
5. Backup sensors
6. Cargo and storage light switch in cargo bed

My seat warmers heat the lower back area on my av.

DocToss has started a great thread ?;D and I want to keep it rolling. ?Here is my wish list for the Avalanche

  • Better sound system that supports MP3 data disc
  • Steering wheel mounted audio controls
  • Steering wheel mounted cruise control
  • Ability to get the plastic body cladding in tan to match the neutral interior (hey, black and tan would be HOT)
  • Overhead console trip computer with Instant MPG, Average MPG, DTE, Fuel Used, and a trip odometer
  • Transmission temperature guage on 1500 series
  • Memory seat button that remembers mirror setting too
  • Split driver/passenger climate control
  • Back up assistance sensor
  • DVD player with screen mounted in the back of the center console on Avalanche's equipped with the bucket seats with A/V input
  • A removable tray in the big center console giving you two tiers with a thin top tier and then the deep console below
  • A lid on the tray in the rear armrest, tray, cup holder so you can keep items in the armrest
  • Fully removable molded drink holder tray (instead of the rubber floor piece they have now)
  • A better designed change holder
  • Better designed center console - loose the nearly worthless 3 CD CD holder with closing lid
  • Remote tailgate lock
  • Cargo lights come on when cabin lights are turned on by switch or a door being opened
  • 12 Volt DC outlet in the cargo box (al a Ford Explorer Sport Trac
  • Monochrome color scheme (al a Cadillac Escalde EXT)
  • Optional 6.0 Liter V-8 that is available through GMC
  • Front and rear power sunroofs (al a Subaru Outback)
I know that's some list - I wouldn't buy them all. ?I'd go with the two-tone look every time (although tan and black is my dream). ?I wouldn't go for the 6.0 Liter engine either, but it would be good to have a choice in the lineup.

However ability to play MP3 discs, steering wheel mounted cruise control and audio controls, trip computer, backup sensor, split climate control, DVD player (got kids), and tailgate lock. ?Ya - Chevy could have squeezed another $1.25K to $1.75K out of me! ?;)

For the tranny temp gage all you have to do is install the gage package from the 2500, escalade, or denali.

I saw that on the Edmunds site. Check it out.

Running the butt warmers this morning I also notice that the lumbar area of the back is heated.

Question for those who did the steering wheel mounted stereo control mod...

If you have the dash trim removed during this procedure, is this also a good time to swap out the instrument cluster so you have the trans temp guage...

Just think that would make sense while everything is hanging out...

I can't understand why Chevy didn't include steering wheel radio and cruise controls. Even my Pontiac Grand Am has both of these. You'd think for $30K+ you'd get them by default.

I do not like cruise control on the stalk. It is cumbersome and inconvenient. Even my old Windstar has steering wheel cruis control.

Oh well - keep up the wish list!

:p MOST IMPORTANT ITEMS TO ME:
Chome wheels ..maybe like American Racing's GM TERON wheel, maybe slightly taller tire. The Escalade 6L motor. ?Color coded cladding. Multi disc changer with better speakers. On board computer. Better rates for On-Star. Flat screen TV/DVD. Yeah a real remote tail-gate lock. Factory remote starter which activates the heated seats and climate control. Passive crotch massager.

Hey Blkjack,
I definitely agree with the P.CM.

My addition..a locking fuel door (interior release)

Wish list

Duramax 6.2 diseal engine
Better sound system.
110 volt electrical outlet in bed.

I would definitely like to see the remote tailgate lock and either a 60/40 midgate or separate opening panels within the midgate to allow access with only one section of back seat folded down.

1. Cargo Light switch in the back. Toggle, so lights can be turned on at one end and off at the other.

2. Power Tailgate Lock. Independent of other locks, with own button on key vob.

3. Better Top Storage Box access. Wider, longer opening, at least 2-liter bottle size. Fuller access to forward space. Possibly opening on the sides like commercial utility beds.

4. Hard points at rear grab handles and sails and possibly B-pillar for mounting lumber/ladder rack.

5. More tie downs.

6. Wider sunvisor extensions.

You can get back-up sensors installed at most car stereo shops.

How about an airbag shutoff switch for the front passenger. When the Avalanche is in the 2 seat/8 ft bed configuration, a child cannot sit in the front seat. Also, does'nt the middle passenger in back seat deserve a headrest? :(

Hey TOM! You hit on one of my biggest pet peeves with the Avalanche. I was going to get an airbag cut off switch installed just for that reason but I've given up. I have to do the monkey dance for the DOT and then, after I get their kind permission I have to take my Av to Mercer Island for the day (Mon - Fri 8:30 to 4:00 of course) and pay $465 to have the GM kit installed. It would take about three weeks to get DOT permission, about ten days for the parts to come in, and then 1/2 a day for the install - just not worth the hassle. I would have gladly paid an extra $150 to $250 factory to have it, even as an option.

to the rest of the list . . . . . . add Quadrasteer. My Av handles pretty good. With Quadrasteer, it would be like a big sports car.

it may be overboard, but i was thinking a GPS/navagation system in the center console (touch screen). that would've given me a huge smile from ear to ear like ;D.

I love your signature!!!

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I would like to see:

Drivers seat: The rear of the drivers seat botom should go down a bit further. I prefer more of a "bucket" style seat, and these feel a bit flat to me.

Steering wheel position: I'd love to have a wheel position halfway between "all the way down" and the next one up. All the way down puts the wheel in my lap and covers the top of the instrumentation. The next position up makes me feel like I'm driving a Metro bus.

Navigation would be cool!!! maybe it can be taken from the caddy version and installed??? ???

12 volt outlet in bed

Truly flat floor when second seats are folded. Current design has holes at the rear and sharp edges from the seat hinges. Dangerous to my dog. I have to take her pillow/bed and a blanket to cover it up and keep her from harm. She loves it that way though.

Thought for today - how about starting a giant poll section for things we would like to see - have - who knows, maybe some GM type is lurking here - or, at the very least, after a month we would send it to them

I filled out my owners survey when I bought my avy...praised the dealer and asked for better features like sthose mentioned...I hope they listen

The first thing I plan on doing to my new 2003 Av is installing a DVD navigation system. I also like the back-up sensor idea. Maybe a rear view camera viewable from the nav display. Has anyone seen or heard anything about the 2003 models? I hear a prototype is floating around in the form of a artist conception drawing. :)

Speaking of a better stereo, I wonder if the BOSE in the Escalade EXT is any better. One could snatch some of these parts and put them in their Av?
