Oh the Horror  - That GM hasn't a thought of doing this  :E: with A mid-Gate Colorado, Silverado  et. al.  :beating:

But - Wouldn't it be nice if Mary and her team  would stop chiseling away at numbers  :B: and build real cars and trucks that people wanted and needed  :E:. Rest In Peace Avalanche  :help: - Maybe Korea will resurrect you with a cool mid gate to boot  :needhug:

:deadhorse:

Yes I wish they made a third gen AV but as much as us diehards want it , I don't think it will ever happen from any manufacturer. Problem is the AV mid-gate design allows it to be the "Swiss Army Knife" of trucks which makes it good for a lot of things but not the best of any one thing and declining sales of second gen AVs shows the flaws of making an AV. They don't know how to market the AV (suv or pickup?) and many dealerships didn't carry very many AVs on the lot and salesmen weren't well versed in the features.
This has been brought up every few months by someone since 2012 when we learned the AV was going to stop production in 2013. For the closest thing to an AV check out the Silverado High Country High Desert package, it has sail panels, storage boxes and bed covers, about only thing missing is the mid-gate.

Stock up on replacement parts and do as much preventive maintenance as you can. In this economy and with GM doing true model upgrades (not just refreshes), this is the best possible time they could reintroduce it. If the Avalanche doesn't return as part of the upcoming GMT T1XX platform, I would say the days of the Avalanche are officially over. Forever.
