So, June 12th we are having our first VA/NOVA GTG ( yes, Northern VA is not a state, much like West VA is >:D ).

Anyone, aside from the 12th, is there any interest in doing say a joint GTG with our neighbor in that other VA?

Currently I live about 10-15 minutes from the WV border in Loudoun County ( Near Leesburg ).

I'd be willing to drive up sometime and meet up with some, but would like to do a joint GTG if possible.

Thoughts, opinions, etc.

We're about 10 minutes from WV out on 81. Count us in! :)

We could host an event sometime as well. BBQ or something and maybe a small mod of some kind? We can fit 4+ Avys in our driveway and have plenty of on-street parking. We're at the end of a culdesac...no chance of any drive by damage or anything. ;D

as a relatively new WV-ian (used to live in Loudoun) and brand new Av-owner...this is perfect for me. I've been schitzo about which group I belong to!!! Ha!

I'll be working in Sterling that day, so I'll have to sneak over to meet everyone. >:D

I didn't mean the WV group should come to the 12th GTG ( if that's what you were thinking ) but either/both that one, or a whole new one :)

Did I mention I love BBQ?

Oh, everyone is welcome anytime, just saying I wasn't specifically mentioning the 12th GTG as the joint time.

How's the dinette set by the way? :)

Ever heard the song Barbecue by Ray Stevens?

"I want some barbecue, barbecue...and went I want it nothing else will do. Woke up this morning at quarter past two, and just gotta get me some barbecue.."

..or something like that. >:D

Other then Secularist being from WV, I'm sorta surprised that no one else from WV has responded.

I take it that's a no then?

OK, can't speak for all of WV but, the majority (by far) live in the the greater Charleston, WV area. That is light years from Loudon County or Winchester for that matter. I live center state on the far west side next to Ohio. It takes me 5 1/2 hours to get to the Leesburg area. I lived there for 10 years prior to crossing the mountians. (My son is still there so we go over every now and then.) The rest of the WV club members would be looking at about 6 1/2 to 7 hours. But who knows? I'm sure more will respond when they get on line. You did mention the magic word, FOOD! I think a joint GTG would be great. By the way, I'll be going over sometime the week of June 21st to help the son and family move. Maybe some of you would like to meet.

I had thought Charleston was closer, but I don't know the area and might be confusing it.
5+ hours is a bit of a drive IMHO unless your plan on doing other things, like visiting DC or something.

If anyones in the area, drop me a line and I'm up for meeting

there are a few other Av's here in the eastern panhandle (Martinsburg & Charles Town area). I think the joint GTG would work quite well for those of us who are kind of "out on an island" in this part of WV...it's kinda tough for us to be included in the rest if the WV chapters activities as it's so far.

omni, we'll talk some more at the Chantilly GTG and see if there's a demand for the joint...

Ithink it would be something we would be interested in. Maybe a half way meet. Up around Canaan or something like that. We have been talking about a late summer early fall GTG in that area of the state.

okay, did a bit of fooling around with Mapquest. Here is what I got....

Martinsburg, WV to Roanoke, VA....3 hours and 23 mins
Charleston, WV to Roanoke, VA.....3 hours and 18 mins

Martinsburg, WV to Canaan Valley, WV.....3 hours and 16 mins
Charleston, WV to Canaan Valley, WV.....3 hours and 19 mins

Both of those would be half way. Just have to decide whether we want to take the Northern route or the Southern route. If WV wants to host, we can have it in Canaan. If VA wants to host, we can go to Roanoke!

You all decide. I'll just be there for the food! ;D

I checked some stuff out, at least to Martinsburg.

That's about 65 miles from me, not to bad.
But Charlston, well, that's 5 hours, way to long.

We are doing a GTG day trip at skyline drive in August ( 08/07 ), if that's not to far for everyone, can maybe do an over night thing.
I would like to camp anyway.

Otherwise, I'll come up with something :)
