I am going to add the hilift, axe and spare tire mounts.

Not quite sure what to say about this, so I'll just write what I said to myself when I saw your pics:
"That's kewl, that's kewl !"

NICE!
What are the dimensions of the Yakima?

That looks great. I am thinking of that also because I come up a little short on cargo space on the camping trips. Did you mount it sideways? If so does it fit better that way or was it to make attatchment to the rack easier?

This is over TXAVY bed rack right?

I thunk so REWBOB....the tiel threw me off is allllllllllllll

I have the same MegaWarrior basket, but on the roof. Having it on the back like that is definitely more accessible.

Looks great - it's what I was thinking of way back when I posted on this very idea. Good execution! How'd you connect the rack up to the bars?

I'm looking forward to seeing this at our GTG later this month.

 :cautious: not too sure what to think of it. It's original. I think they look better on top...not to mention a little more practical up there (can see out the back better if you have a bike on there). I have a question though. I've been hinking about gettign on for the roof. Can you open the sunroof with the basket up there?

Bueller...

Yes, this is on a TxAvy manufactured rack. I should have given him credit up front, my bad.

The Yakima MegaWarrior dimensions are 52x48x6.5 and I don't think it is installed sideways. It looks like the PICs on the Yakima site.

As far as mounting. Here is a PIC of the rear mounting. I drilled two holes on each side (left and right) of the cross bar to accomodate the UBolts used to mount them. I still have to paint the UBolts black to make them look better. I am also going to get a wing nut similar to the front mount to make it easier to remove. Here is a PIC.

For the front, I was able to use the Yakima mounts. Here is a PIC.

I am going to order the Yakima MegaWarrior Extension that will make the basket 22" longer. While this will make the basket extend about 8" past the tailgate, it will allow me to use the Yakima mounts on the rear, like I did on the front. It will also add much additional storage space.

Yes, you can open the sunroof if you put it on the roof. I went with it in this location for three reasons. 1, I don't have a roof rack. 2, with my 6" lift, I don't need more weight on top. 3, with my 6" lift, I would have a hard time getting anything heavy in it on the roof, without assistance in lifting it.

sheesh Avking how about a little credit? (see my post a week ago on my megawarrior on the AvRack, cooincidentally advising of the same mounting issues and solutions >:D )

did you too find that you had to file down the yakima mount piece to gain enough clearence underneath the AvRack to the top of the bed panel?

Sorry, my credit giving ability is in poor form this week. But, I was first to post PICs. >:D

I was lazy and I just let the bottom mount touch the panel. That is just like me though. Many here would be shocked at how badly I treat my rig. I am having custom mounts, identical but smaller, than the Yakima mounts manufactured by my machine shop buddy. He is the same one making the A/C knobs and Fuel door for me. He said he can knock out some mounts in billet and then annodize them black for me. Will be plenty strong, look good and fit better. If we ever finish them, I will probably make a few sets to sell to those who need them.
