My Z66 has been virtually problem free for the two years I've owned it... but what I saw today has me concerned.

My back end is high enough to make any stock Z71 jealous! It doesn't sit like a top fuel dragster, but the back end is noticably higher than normal. I thought maybe a drive around would settle it back down, but no luck so far.

It has been extremely hot here after being cold for a long time. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Problem is... warranty ran out in the last two weeks. So I'm taking a wait and see approach to this. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before or if anyone has any suggestions.

My Z66 usually sits about 2-3" lower than a stock Z71. I'd say today it was 2-3" higher than a stock Z71.

ANy measurements you can pass to compare....to otherssss....

First, I would take it back to your dealer. If it is only 2 weeks out of warranty a good dealer can get it fixed under that warranty!

I checked on it tonight after it was sitting awhile and it dropped back down to normal. I'll keep a tape measure around and measure it at different times tomorrow and see if I can provide any data for what's going on.

Just measured to have some point of reference.

From the ground to the highest point in the center of the tailgate is 56"

It looks to be near normal ride height at the moment.

I've taken several measurements, hot/cold, before a drive/after a drive, before lunch/after lunch... 56" seems to be what it strives for.

Yesterday I hauled a refridgerator in the back, 5' fridge, empty, nothing else back there.

Didn't weigh TOO much but had some weight to it. Took it out and measured and it was at 57". After a drive, it was back to 56".

So this got me thinking, what could have been in there to get it to compensate 2-3" for the load.

Looking back through IM logs, I found that that was the day 4 of us went to lunch in the AV. So I added up the estimated weight of all involved... 750-800lbs.

Ok, maybe this was it, this was considerably more weight than when we hauled the fridge yesterday. With the compensation compared to what it did for the fridge, I could see it raising 2-3" or more.

I just always thought it would take a huge load to get it to adjust for it, but I guess all of our fat asses were enough of a load to make it work.

Going to consider this normal behavior and ignore it. :)
