I love these cheap mods!
I didn't like the white Z71 stickers on my black av, so I ordered the red ones that go one the pewter av from Dal at Van Devere for $12. It took me about 5 minutes per side, very easy, looks great!

C'mon Ahhnuld, you know there's a law against making a mod and not posting pics, don't you? (Is it a law? If not, it should be!)

I'd love to see the red on black. Got a GM part number?

I'm considering the same on my blue. How do you (or anybody) think it'll look? I'm considering it to go along with red Stripeman (or maybe red reflective) tailgate/cladding letters. I don't want to match the blue, I want some contrast!

Here's a quick image edit mockup of what i'm thinking.

RedLetters.jpg

If the tailgate and cladding letters are red, the original Z-71 just doesn't look right anymore.

Anybody have any comments?

I am seriously considering the reflective. However, for the tailgate letters I'm also considering the Z-71 fade style from stripeman to match a red Z-71 sticker. You think red fade tailgate, and red reflective cladding would clash? IF the stripeman is not an exact match for the Z-71, maybe it's better to go with all reflective.

Anybody get the Stripeman red Z-71 fade tailgate letters for their pewter Av? Does it match the Z-71 sticker closely? If you have it, can you post pics?

And Aegis we need pics...curious how the red looks on black....
Did Aegis also do this? I'm the last one to correct you in public (my, wasn't that a disaster last time!) but it's Ahhnuld who started this thread. ;D

No, I'm not following you around. We must just have similar tastes in topics. Actually, I was begining to think it was you who was following me around. After all, I saw this topic first! (But I do appreciate your followup on my question)

I also like Bubba's bowties on the bumper steps.

Bubba: The fade looks good. Does it match the Z-71 if you look at it closely? Are the dots about the same size and spacing? Or is it just the same general effect when looking at it from a distance?

I can't say it is exactly but darn close, the letters are very thin, they look thicker than they really are because of the embossing on the tailgate makes them stand out...and without getting out the protractors and slide rules I say its good enough for govt. work

OK, I'll grab a pic tomorrow, but it wont be that great, since I will be using my camcorder to capture it, and its only Hi-8, not digital.

I did not need to use a hairdryer or anything to warm up the sticker. It's 90+ degrees here in Texas at 4pm, all I used was a plastic spoon to start the peel, then grabbed the corner and off it came. I then cleaned the area with alcohol, then applied the new one. Too easy!

ALCON,

I have a LPM Z71 and plan on removing the stock stickers and installing "Burban" Z71 emblems on the pillars, forward of the sail. The GM part number is 15051184, the cost from "GM parts direct" is about $5.00 each. The emblems are gold, silver and black. There is an AV in the club with the same mod.

Aloha,
Murman

Alrighty then!
As promised, here is the pic of the red Z71 sticker. I apologize for the poor quality, but I don't have a digital camera yet. The red is much more deeper than what shows.

Bubba: Nice comparison shots. The fade effect bewteen the two are quite similar. That's what I was looking to see. Thanks for the post. (y)

Ahhnuld: I like the red on black. It's a little hard to judge the red color, is it about the same as the taillights? Again, thanks for the pics. (y)

Murman: You know the drill: I'd love to see your stickers when you get them in, pics please! Took me a while to figure out what 'burban was, I could only picture bourbon, the drink. Then I finally realized it was a contraction. (Some of us can be a little slow! :2: )

Based on these pics, I am seriously leaning towards the red Z-71 factory sticker, the Stripeman red Z-71 fade tailgate letters, and the home-brew red reflective Avalanche cladding letters. I think it'll look good with the indigo blue. I'm just a little concerned about having a few slightly different shades of red, so I might just go with Stripeman for the Avalanche letters. But the reflective is sooooo cool! *)

Thanks for the pics and opinions, I'm still open to feedback (good or bad) before I start ordering decals. (Gonna wait 'till after the raffle drawing. With my luck, I'll order the decals, and then win the Stripeman prize. No, wait, did I say that? I want the tent! )

Hey ShapeShifter,
Yes, the red is deeper, close to the tail lights color. Also, the charcoal fade color that borders and fades in at the top of the sticker accentuates the cladding a bit more.

Much better that the stock white. ;D

Looks good Ahhnold

SS: you must have won the second ten because the first one was mine >:D

Supermobile: I stopped by my dealer today he had a black 03 sitting on lot (no sticker on it yet) but it was a z71 and the stickers are exactly the same as the 02 so stripeman fades will be a perfect match ;D

me & the mrs were checking one out today, liked many of the new feature, but won't sell my baby till they put in 4 wheel steering or something like that :B:
