Ok fellow Avy lovers I need help / advice plz. I followed the directions for changing over to FTDRL's to the letter, everything was going great and exactly as described in the instructions, got the fuse block out and flipped over with no issues; then boom! I was trying to remove the screw that holds down the "green" section of the fuse block, and it won't come out, I can turn it either way (clockwise, or counter) and the screw will not completely come out, I can feel it get loose as if it's dis-engaged, but as I continue to turn in either direction it starts to get tight again. Am I doing something wrong, has anyone else had this issue? 2002 W/Cladding... :help:

Anyone having problems using LED bulbs with or without this mod?
I just read through all 10 pages looking to see if anyone had these symptoms.

I have gone through 8 LED 3157 bulbs with this mod.
After a few weeks some of the LEDs in the bulb blow out and some flicker.
I have the exact same LED in my parking lights and never had to replace it once.
Any ideas as to what could be the cause?
I don't want to believe I am the first one with this problem on an 02 after all these years so can someone point me in the direction of a solution if there is one?
I have been searching the forum and so far I have come up blank.
Thanks
The housing gets so hot that it melts the leds

Yep.
That is a known issue.
I went through a couple of bulbs and even had to replace the wiring so I stuck with regular bulbs.
Those are the ONLY regular bulbs left on my truck. Every bulb on the interior and exterior has been changed to LEDs or HIDs with the exception of those two.

Just did this mod yesterday worked like a charm and now nothing not working at all help!!!! :needhug:

When you say nothing is working at all, can you be a bit more specific?
No headlights?
No parking lights?
Or is it just that the DRLs don't come on at all?

Also just to clear the air, what year is your Avalanche?

I went straight to the source. Guy hasn't been on in a year. So I got his email and emailed him. 200 plus shipping includes poles

I'm not using LEDs but I'm having an issue getting my DRLs to work too. I'm gonna take it apart again once I get my truck out the shop for fuel pump n filter replacement

Hey everyone - I'm a new member but wanted to post on how easy this mod was to complete using the detailed instructions provided. I used amber led 3157s and they turned out great....Thanks again!

So I did this mod many, many years ago. Decided to go Amber LEDs. After inserting the 2nd, nothing worked. Found a loose wire from wig wag mod and just removed that mod. Sockets are back to factory, but no power to sockets while running. Took the fuse box apart and did a continuity  test from DRL socket royal blue to the double one you move in the mod, all good. Test the ground in the socket, also good. Checked all 4 pins for the DRL relay socket, 14 volts only on pin 30 (upper right side of relay socket). DRL 10A fuse  is also good. Another thing is suddenly my AC clutch won't engage either and there seems to be no voltage on that line. Could be related.

Where does the DRL voltage originate from?

You are so right sir. Before you made the post (which I thank you very much) I gave up and concentrated on the AC. Found a diagram Shape Shifter posted which showed the ING-E fuse. I then tested the DRL and saw it had power too.

Thanks again for posting!
